They gave Pacquiao a fake title for beating someone that had just been knocked out. It’s a joke. I only recognize the alphabet titles. May not be perfect, but at least it’s not arbitrary. He never won titles at 126 or 140. What am I missing? At 126, he beat Barrera, who was the Ring and lineal champ. Barrera won those titles vs Morales, but declined to accept the WBC title he won in that fight also. Barrera hadn't lost any of his titles in the ring, hence was the Ring and lineal champ. Similarly, at 140 he won the Ring and lineal belts vs Ricky Hatton, who had won multiple world titles at 140 (IBF, Ring, Lineal, and WBA) but had to vacate the alphabet ones to go up to 147. He didn't lose in the ring to anyone at 140 until Pacquiao, and was considered the man at 140 until Pacquiao beat him. Remember, the Ring belt can only be won in a fight between the top two champions at the weight class. So there were some vagaries that led to alphabet shenanigans in both cases, but they were still considered the real champs at those weight classes until Pacquiao beat them.
