What is there left for Fury?

Fight against AJ or even Dubois would be great and an excellent seller. Don't think he has time for trilogy with Usyk, but he can mop up the rest of the division.

Yeah, Fury`s CV is poor speaking of top 10 opponents. Bakole, Parker, Dubois, Kabayel, Zhang all are good fight for him. With two losses already and near the end of his career, I doubt he cares about his CV that much. It is not like he's going to use it for something next. Both AJ and Fury will fight where the money is and that is only if they fight each other. Neither fights a hungry young heavy hitter and nobody's interested in fighting Kabayel or Zhang for less money. A two-fight contract between Fury and Joshua and they both retire afterward. If AJ wins, he may try to sneak a title if it were held by Charles Martin or Kabayel or Hrgovic. For sure, Usyk won't be there after they fight twice and they probably will avoid Dubois/Parker.

His fights with usyk — a high standard fighter — are already proof about Fury’s level. He gave Usyk his hardest fight, and Usyk said he is his toughest as well. So if a high standard, undisputed, undefeated, reigning champ that doesn’t say too much BS gives you props like Usyk gave fury… i’d believe him in a heartbeat. Fury has long passed the eye test. Displayed his skills multiple times for a guy his size. Came short against the best of his era and there’s no shame in that. what more proof of level do u need other than having close fights with the best of your era. Where else should we gauge him lol Not really - Fury is massive physically, and that tells you more about Usyk’s quality in those fights. Usyk isn’t a 1 punch KO boxer, so he has to outbox his opponents until they’re worn down. Fury has always relied on his size and moves well for someone that big. He’s never been hard to hit though, and I’ll give him credit for excellent powers of recovery when dropped. The Wilder wins are looking less good as time goes by, Klitschko was 39 and retired one fight later after being KO’d. He just doesn’t have a single other big win in his entire career. Whyte is clearly his 3rd best and had already been KO’d twice. Chisora never won a big fight in his life.

The AJ fight is definitely still worth it. It isnt a hugely meaningful fight anymore rankings or legacy wise and its like half as big (at best) as it would have been years ago, but its still a pretty big fight that makes sense for both. I also think its not necessarily an easy fight to predict as they both look washed now. Other fights like Bakole, Dubois, Parker, Zhang etc are not worth it for Fury really when you weigh up the commercial interest vs the risk of getting the shit beat out of him.

2 things to consider - 1) Boxing doesn't GAF about it's fighters. No pension fund in sight. Forcing guys to fight to pay bills. 2) This is the best HW era to keep on going. So many bums........Get that money !

But definitively would beat Joshua based on your very subjective view that he was a bit better against Usyk? Across 4 losing efforts? I think I'd rather see them fight for the right to claim that. All I know is that Usyk is better than them both. Yeah you cant compare Fury to those guys. Fury is proven, to say anything else is silly, he's over the hil so diminishing returns from here on out but Wlad, Wilder x3, Chisora x 3, Whyte, Wallin and yes the performances and context in all these fights matter, including the close fights with Usyk. The Joshua fight would have been nice, but in fairness whenever momentum would build something contractual would happen or Joshua would lose etc

I wouldn't say he was a "bit" better than Joshua against Usyk, fury won several rounds clearly against Usyk and had periods of prolonged success, something Joshua never did. Anyway on topic, Fury vs AJ is all that's left, yes it's well past it's sell by date but it will still sell out Wembley and by the time it rolls around everyone who says they aren't interested will end up watching it. Beyond that there's not much left, AJ is totally finished and Fury is well on the way out, I think fury "could" still beat some of the top 10, but I think he's going to decline with every fight and won't make it to a title shot again before he's totally finished.

I don't know that he ever did enough to be considered clearly better than his rivals, and certainly didn't do enough to be considered a great champion. What's left? Well he could finally go and fight some of those top half of the top 10 ranked kind of guys. His CV feels a bit shallow and hollow right now. I have been saying for about 1 year Fury was doing himself no favor and was regressing badly fighting Chisora`s , Whyte`s and so on. these guys are nowhere near Usyk`s level. But no, many guys here complained, trying to convince me Fury was still N.1. lol. Against whyte, he was still on peak form. After that.. the chisoras and ngganous were all waste of time and what he has left

Fury is past his prime...the Francis Ngonu fight showed that. He use to be somewhat agile for a guy his size, he has still has good hand speed, but no movement. Yes Uysk is faster and smaller, but Fury looked like crap against Ngonu. Now what he could do is fight a no name get a win, Joshua fights a no name and gets a win, and they FIGHT EACH OTHER which could be pretty much the end of both their careers.
