He’s defeated them all, some several times over, never lost a fight, became undisputed at cruiserweight then heavyweight. All quality opponents the best the divisions had to offer. Whatever you want to say about Joshua, Fury, and Dubois, these 3 were the elite of heavyweight boxing when Usyk fought them….
All that’s left now are no name boxers looking to make a name but they’re not here to stay they’re not going to mark their names in boxing annals as one of the best, the pedigree isn’t there. Zhang, Parker, Kabayel, Bakole… these guys are either too old, have lost several times, or unproven.. what’s the benefit of fighting one of them risking a loss as you’re aging and slowing down only to give them a star on their resume while tarnishing you’re own.
RETIRE USYK… you have achieved more than 99.9% of boxers can ever hope to achieve and now you have enough money for 5 lifetimes.
Well he can work on his resume my fighting Wilder or Ruiz :D
A fight with Hrgovic would be more respect.
Usyk needs to rematch Dubois.
I thought Dubois knocked out Usyk with a body shot.
Dubois is a much bigger and stronger man than Usyk is.
Usyk is an sports entertainment ambassador of Ukraine. He gets a lot of positive publicity for Ukraine which aids its defense efforts against Russia's war. I think Usyk will continue to fight predominately to serve his country in a way only he can.
He probably will get a good offer for his next fight and it can be an easy touch. DDD still has to fight Parker and there is no guarantee that he will win. The winner of DDD/Parker would be the only fight that would matter.
Usyk has nothing more to prove and should only be in a huge fight. None of the other heavyweights or Opetai offer that. A fight at a catchweight vs Beterbiev would be huge. He could maybe even do a huge exhibition against Klitschko at the MetLife stadium.
Only way usyk will retire is if he is goat. But considering people won't say he's goat must mean you want more names on his resume. Clean out top ten.
Then usyk is no1 all time
Eh, I see where you're coming from (and in a way, you're not wrong), but think this has more of you, the fan, hating the idea of Usyk losing as he ages.
Usyk seems like he feels he has more to accomplish. Or maybe he wants to make more money. He's entitled to his choice. If he loses in his next fight, I don't have too many issues with it. He's 39, and will have fought the best of his generation at all kinds of disadvantages. Everyone gets older, and nobody stays winning as they approach 40.
As far as actual opponents, I agree with you. Not a lot of ***y names left. Rematch with Dubois? Meh. Kabayel is overrated IMO. Easy, pointless fight. Zhang is OLD. Like..great to see the midget Usyk against a giant like Zhang, but Zhang will be ~42 by then. Parker? Again, meh. Not an exciting fight, and not one that does anything for Usyk.
My choice would be to entice Opetaia to come up. Opetaia has looked excellent against good competition. He's very similar build to Usyk (6'2 vs 6'3, 78 vs 76 in reach), and is 10 years younger. They can sell it as "past vs future" fight or something.
I was thinking the Usyk v Opetaia thing at one point. But tho Usyk was a CW too, it's going to look like dragging somebody up from a lower weight, like others have done, instead of fighting guys at his weight.
The only thing that fighting Parker, Zhang, Bakole would do for Usyk (if he wins) is cement his name. It obv won't rank him any higher. When he's gone, we're all going to wonder what Usyk vs whomever would've looked like. So maybe he can fit a couple of those guys in before going.
I'm going to say those three in that order.
Dubois 2 would make a lot of money, if money is a motivating factor at this point. The controversy surrounding the low blow in their first meeting and Dubois destroying Joshua last time out will go a long way toward making folks overlook Dubois quitting after being knocked down by a jab.
Edit: if Dubois can best Parker, which may not happen.
He has a couple options:
Fight Dubois again and erase that Not-A-Low-Blow conspiracy for good
Go back down to CW and challenge Opetaia or Zurdo to confirm his CW legacy
Fight Beterbiev @ CW, his only challenge for P4P as we speak
Retire and Live the life...
He would be crazy to go back down to cruiser pushing 40 years old. Should definitely fight the winner of Dubois-Parker. Parker would be an interesting match-up

You’re absolutely right, the internet does love making things up, like you thinking that you actually know the purse better than the those other websites.
It's like the idiots who believed the Garcia Haney numbers that Haney got 30m and Garcia 50m something like that because they sold 900k+. I called it bullshit then. Oscar confirmed sold just over 300, and he talks shit but he is not going to publicly lie about sold figures when he is the one that has to pay Haney, 300-400 was always more realistic

Anyone who think they are getting that must be stupid. Saudi are not that dumb. Even if Usyk was offered 20m he will have took that. There is no way he is getting 100m+. 100m+ figure is literally a made up figure no real source has even claimed anything close to that just social media hype
Every fight is a risk. It all depends on if he still has his skills and agility. Going by this fight, he definitely still has it. Usyk is turning 38 next month. He can fight for another 2 or 3 fights in 2025 and retire. He knows he can still win fights and get big money from the Saudi Prince. The war in Ukraine could end next year because of the upcoming U.S. President. Usyk will help rebuild but will require a lot of money which he can get those fights.
It's only risk if you take the modern view of boxing.
His legacy should really be set. A few more wins enhance it by giving him a long reign. A loss shouldn't be a big deal when you consider what he's achieved.
Ideally he'd ultimately have a passing of the torch fight and we'd all praise him. But boxing fans are a weird bunch and would probably call him a bum.

I know usyk is entitled to whatever he chooses as he’s earned that, I also think he is still at the peak of his powers.. i wouldn’t blame him if he wants to continue.. but no other names would really excite me.. maybe if someone like a prime wilder is around then that would intrigue me a bit.
so yup… i hope he retires after this. This is the best exit. Paid the biggest and won
