Something I failed to recognize till tonight - Ennis has absolutely zero defense. I don't know how long it has been since a top welterweight had zero defense but it has been a long time! If he turned into a Butterfly and flew into a dark auditorium, he would still not be able to miss a punch!
Really just noticed??
I've been saying this on here for years
He pulls back in straight lines with his chin high and gets caught easily. He's a knockout waiting to happen.
I will admit that I was wrong. Karen came to fight tonight and gave a good account of himself. He combined his slickness with some crafty punching. He caught Boots clean all night and even buzzed hima few times. No shame for the Ukrainian.
Yes, he most certainly did. He gave Boots his toughest and most competitive fight of his career so far.
I thought that Chukhadzhain even buzzed Jaron on a few occasions with some nice counters also.

Is Ennis OK? He isn't having a meltdown like AJ or Lopez but he seems dejected.
I think he was a bit embarrassed. Boots won the fight but Karen humbled him a bit. The Ukrainian was using angles, counters and timing to land clean throughout. His old man didn't seem to understand that the opponent came to fight and was tryna ng to win until the final bell.
I am not high on him at all and think Boots has infinite times more talent but I feel even a Ryan Garcia would pose a real risk to Boots unless he tightens up.
The way Boots was eating left hooks like it's part of his diet, I also think he would make Ryan's job easier but he should still overpower him.
No doubt!

Why can't they give Karen some credit instead of making excuses?
Too much holding but he fought a very good fight and showed a lot of qualities.
I hate they keep acting like he is some low level fighter or a bum, he absolutely isn't.
Not saying he is p4p or anything of the sort but he's a decent fighter and would give just about any Welterweight fits with his style.
Reality is Karen learned from the first fight, Boots learned sweet FA because is surrounded by yes men.
I agree. In fact I think Karen is much better than a "decent" fighter. He showed all kinds of skill in there tonight.
Boozy Annis isn't a very good trainer.
We clearly missed a lot during the broadcast because Boots reiterated the advise he got in his post-fight interview and there was more substance than "take em out of there".
Competitive & fun. I think Karen is a very good fighter, really good footwork in particular and tough as old boots. I'd like to see him take Benn to school.
Boots appears to have a granite chin but he has some horrible defensive tendencies. As much as he rolls and takes the heat off shots he has a lot of bad habits standing too tall in the pocket, pulling out too high and generally not protecting the right side of his face. Unless Ryan sparks Boots very y quickly, I think it would be a terrible bet down. Garcia just isn't very sturdy and he's a mental midget.

Yeah I can see it too like he's embarrassed. He was stuttering and mixing up his words he couldn't wait to get away from the microphone.
Boots is a good guy but tonight he was challenged closely. He looks like he has chipmunk cheeks tonight after the fight, probably because he was getting smacked on the jaw and head all night. Fun fighter but he looked a bit slower than Karen and was neglecting his defense. I think his size was his saving grace against Karen.
Boots either can't or won't change his fight plan. He smothers his own punches trying to walk Karen down. He gets hit waaaaay to easily and too often. No double /triple jabs. No feints. Just walking straight forward.
