hugh grant near 40 Artur getting a decision over Biv in their first fight is a great win
Biv needs something greater than doing 116-112/8-4 in fight 2 to surpass the decision for Artur
Sweeping the final third of a full 12 rounds and punctuating the win by knocking Bet down would do the trick:cool:
Or better yet Biv stopping Bet in the 11th round:cool:
Stay off the ropes. Any time that artur had him on the ropes, bivol would put his earmuffs on,and even if the punches were landing on the gloves,it still made it look like he was taking damage.
Up the activity. There were rounds that bivol took the foot off the gas,and let artur set the pace, which is not a smart idea when you're against a heavy hitter.
Avoid throwing the hooks, and focus on the 1-2. Bivol is the faster fighter, and the cleaner boxer. Multiple times he was able to catch Artur clean, when he we resetting or in between punches. Bivol would get caught while throwing wide hooks,or overcommitted in the combination.
Work the body. On more than one occasion, bivol clipped Artur on the ribs, and you could visibly see the discomfort on his face, followed by Artur dropping his left elbow to protect his body.
All in all,Bivol is the younger, faster, cleaner boxer. He can improve, and he can adjust. Artur is nearing 40,and won't be getting any better.
I agree with straight punches but all the rest will get him hit more. Bivol fought a PERFECT fight. The problem isnt his boxing. Its that he cant get Beterbiev to respect his power enough.
I think their next fight that BIVOL WILL WIN. Why? Cause even though Beterbiev won. HE LOOKED OLDER.
Everyone looses to father time eventually.
The thing is- Bivol effectively executed the correct game plan against Beterbiev. Different judges might have given him the fight.
Bivol could take more risks but I think what we saw Saturday showed that he flew about as close to the sun as he could without more detrimental consequences.
The main thing we learned was that Bivol's best shots weren't enough of a threat to change anything about Beterbiev.
Great fight- very tough night for both guys. I don't know that the rematch particularly favors one guy more than the other given the age factor and the level these guys operate at.
I don’t think there is much he can do differently. If he sits down on his punches more, chances are he gets clipped and stopped himself. He stopped trading punches like in the early rounds because he didn’t like what he was getting hit with.
Yes, probably win. Remember i said it. O, by the way i picked Artur to win in the first one.
Agreed...I picked Beterbiev to win too but it looks like his age and injuries are finally catching up with him as this was the CLOSEST fight of his career and the first opponent he couldn't get out of there. Therefore, if Bivol manages to make a few adjustments like staying busy the ENTIRE round and not taking rounds off, he has a good shot at winning the rematch.
Yes, probably win. Remember i said it. O, by the way i picked Artur to win in the first one. So you think he'll do better in a year against Worserbiev? :rofl:I guess Biv winning 9-3 or 8-4 in the rematch could see him as the bigger victor of their 24 rounds
Because fight 1 sentiment 55% thought Biv won while 45% thought Bet won
So you think he'll do better in a year against Worserbiev?

Think we already seen there wont be no stoppages. Bivol did just about everything right. I think Artur looked old. Will look older in another year. Probably get the win then.

lol why’d you think Biv would get stopped before the bout
big punchers don’t finish their career with a stoppage in all fights
Biv’s next fight will be the start of his prime
Biv needs to box like a pro from here on out: win every minute of every round
Shift away from his amateur boxing mindset: up on points so disengage and chill. He done this ish in prior fights where he’s much better than his opponents. This don’t fly in pro boxing against the elite of the elite
good analysis
I’d add that the Biv headshot that most hurt Bet was a left hook
what he wants to avoid is trading hooks. Art got the better of that
Biv has to properly set the left hook up with a jab feint or off of the 2
Agreed...Bivol definitely needs to fight EVERY minute of every round in the rematch as there were several rounds which Artur stole at the death where Bivol was winning. Also, it looked like he took the championship rounds OFF whereas Beterbiev pressed forward and was by far the busier fighter (probably because his corner told him he needed a KO). Even though a LOT of punches were blocked by Bivol, I can understand why the judges awarded Beterbiev those rounds due to Bivol's inactivity. I don't know whether Bivol was fatigued or secretly hurt from the accumulation of punches or both, but he was up (or even) on 2 of the 3 judges scorecards before the championship rounds which ALL 3 judges (including myself) awarded to Beterbiev.

Bivol needs to FINISH rounds as strongly as he started them as Beterbiev stole too many rounds with flurries of activity in the last 30-40 seconds. Also, he needs to prevent Artur from putting him on the back foot for most of the round (like the championship rounds) as the judges will automatically score those for Beterbiev as the aggressor.
If he can make these two adjustments (and his chin holds up), I give him a GOOD shot at winning the rematch.lol why’d you think Biv would get stopped before the bout

Beterbiev didn't budge at Bivol's best shots... Bivol was pushed away 3 feet any time he got caught or blocked the right hand (destroyed cheek as evidence)... How in the world can he KO Artur besides the lucky shot ? Artur was hurt by a left hook in round 7
Art’s legs said it
then Biv backed Art onto the ropes with combos
Biv got greedy and took a counter right
which stopped the momentum from the left hook that hurt Art
I will need to rewatch the fight. Biv left hook wasn’t there in the last 3 to 4 rounds.
His activity level was much lower than usual because Beterbiev hits so hard. Really was a masterful fight from both. I thought he edged it, but he's gonna need to press the issue more in the rematch, and that will give Artur more opportunities. Beterbiev proved that he's a better boxer than he often gets credit for, and his ability to cut the ring was on par with Bivol's masterful defense. IMO both guys stock should go up after that fight.
