I had Ortiz winning 114-112 over Bohachuk.
I felt Ortiz being busier won him many rounds and the fight. Bohachuk didn't throw enough punches.
Who did you have winning Ortiz or Bohachuk?
As others have said, they need to run it back! I bet Ortiz won't, because it's too risky for his future big fights. Oscar will protect him.
Oscar took a big gulp when Turki told him, "no Tszyu, straight to Crawford." Lol!
But I think Tszyu beats Vergil.
Not if you score it rd by rd. You can take the worst of it in rds and still win a boxing match. It's not like Ortiz wasn't dishing it back clean either, he was just getting timed with a right hand.

But, if you feel Ortiz took more damage, how can you believe that he won? I thought that judges usually judge by who lands the cleaner, more effective punches. You pretty much said that was Bohachuck.

It's definitely deserving of a rematch. Scorewise I 100% agree with the thread starters score but although they were both hurting each other, I feel Ortiz took more damage.

I agree with this and I was rooting for Virgil , but knew the scoring was going to be interesting as I felt Ortiz swept the championship rounds ...They basically gave him the nod in every round that could have been considered close . It was a good fight , run it back .....
That seems a good explanation. Some people may feel that given the champion was the other guy this was not fair. So hard to make sense of all the possible ways one could see the fight.
That is correct. The only way one can have Bohachuk winning by a score of 114-112 then they would have had to have Serhii winning by more than 5 rounds.
Which I never did. There weren’t six rounds I could have given Bohachuk. The judges got it right this time. The right man won.
Yeah I agreed with the decision. Ortiz did a good job stealing some rds the last 30seconds. I've been harsh on Ortiz, dude was kinda set up for that fighting 2rds in over 2yrs.
:lol1: All good. Looks like I'm the only one so far who felt Bohachuck won. As I said, I can accept a draw, but not a victory for Ortiz.

it might be fair if one of these unheralded guys actually took one of these 'close fight' calls now and then
virgil then claims after the fight
"I’m the best in the world,” he said after claiming the WBC 'interim' super-welterweight belt
LOL ok virgil whatever u say just watch your balance from now on
Yeah but I mean the unheralded guy isn't even winning the poll in this thread
So, unless my math is off, that's 113-113.That is correct. The only way one can have Bohachuk winning by a score of 114-112 then they would have had to have Serhii winning by more than 5 rounds.

After getting knocked down twice, Ortiz would have had to win every remaining round. I honestly don't believe that was the case. In a fair world, Bohachuck gets the nod, 114-112. If Ortiz gets an A for effort, it could have been ruled a majority draw.

I could see it anyway: here's the thing: Judges do not have to give a 10-8 round for a knockdown do they ( I don't know)? If they don't, going on that assumption for now, in either one of those rounds where Boha scored a knockdown, the rest of the round could have gone to Ortiz... Maybe that made it just a one point margin on at least one of those 10-8 rounds? Just a thought.
Yes, Bohachuck must not have gotten 10-8 scoring in those two rounds. That's the only explanation. I would love to see the judges scores for each round to better understand.

:lol1: He wins a tough fight vs #7 ranked Bohachuck while suffering two knockdowns, and he thinks he's the best in the world? Alrighty then!

I think there a whole lot of different outcomes someone could come to and they'd all ne fair
