The middleweight division is the thinnest it has been in 25+ years. Maybe more.
As a fan of the middleweight division, I am sad to see a lack of talent both in ring magazine's top 10 and prospects wise.
Here are the current ring magazine ratings.

Alimkhauly is at the top, but he really hasn't beaten anyone good and lacks a win over other top ten opponents and has only fought 15 times. Yet he is #1. Wow.
Adames is the #2 man, and much like the #1 guy, you guessed it lacks a win over a current top 10 opponent.
The rest of them have been on the list for less than two years, save one guy who's battle tested in Eubank. Now he is 33 and 3.
Help me out, when he a cupboard been this bare? What year?

Canelo messed it with his weight hopping ways. Kept the belts for ages without defending them.
Maybe legit Middleweights have been trying to be 154lbrs or 168lbrs to follow the cashcow?
I actually think Crawford should think of moving up to 160 if he beats Madrimov
It's weak enough where he could actually win a title in a 5th weight class
But yeah, this the weakest 147 & 160 have been in my lifetime, but it's all due to politics.
It's because at 147, Spence, Thurman, & Porter mostly held out on fighting Crawford until he got old, & they mostly didn't fight each other either, so now they all got old without establishing an era of their own.
At 160, it was held hostage by a combination of GGG chasing Canelo & Charlo being in mostly inactive & avoiding any real threat so he could chase a Canelo fight.
And they all ducked Andrade, I don't care what y'all say.

Dam, just Alimkhauly and an old Lara, yeah not looking too good for MW.
I'd like to see Jermell C try out and mix it up at 160, after he's done with his vacation of course.
