I just watched the undisputed HW title fight again and it reminded me of something that baffled me in the lead up to the fight.
At the final press conference, the weigh in, and again in the ring before the fight, Fury was introduced by Michael Buffer as the holder of the Ring title. In fact, Fury relinquished the Ring title in 2022 and Usyk won it in his rematch with AJ. The first time Buffer did that I assumed it was a lapse in memory from a guy getting on in years. But when he did it twice more, without anybody correcting him, it made me wonder.
Did I miss something? Did Fury create another bogus title for himself, to go with his fantasy lineal belt?

Buffer also said Usyk was 10lbs heavier than he is.
Guy is old and crap at his job,
I thought it was God Save the King when Buffer introduced it as God Save the Queen. Then I looked it up and was like, holy crap, it is called God Save the Queen. I could of sworn I've heard it as God Save the King numerous times in various fights. Any UK fans that can clear that up?
Pretty sure I've heard it as God save the queen. But it could be the Mandela effect.

Well, it's been God Save The King since the Queen died...
I'm pretty sure Fury was announced as Ring champion before he came on stage at the final presser and at the weigh in. Not before he got on the scales, but before he came out onto the stage.
I might go back and look. It definitely registered with me that they weren't referencing it but I may have just missed that bit.
It's God Save the King now there's a King rather than Queen.
I thought I heard he announced it right though.
The Ring title thing was weird. I noticed right through fight week they never referenced the Ring belt. Not at weigh ins or at the arrivals. Then on fight night they announced Fury as the holder.
But I'm pretty sure the belt was being held up by Usyk's team.

The original title of the song was God Save the King, because there was a king on the throne when it was written. But it changes, depending on the sex of the monarch. So it is God Save the King again now.

The ridiculous 'UNDISPUTED' belt was the biggest crime of all
At Fury's one-man press conference in Morecambe, Frank Warren said there were 8 belts on the line in the fight, the IBO, IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC, Ring, Undisputed and lineal.

I don't think Buffer writes his own stuff. Possibly it was to even the intro out a little. Usyk came into the fight with 4 World titles, Fury only 1.
Make that 2, if you believe the lineal title bullshit. It seems very odd to introduce a fighter as the holder of a title which is actually held by his opponent, and to do it 3 times, without the opponent objecting. Maybe Usyk figured it didn't really matter, because the winner of the fight would come out of it holding the Ring title, whatever.
Imagine if it had ended in a draw though ...
Fury: "I thought I won the fight. But who gives a fuck. I wasn't interested in them belts he has anyway, and I've still got my WBC, lineal and Ring titles"
Usyk: "B ... b ... b .... "
