After seeing Canelo's past few performances, there is apparent decline in his style.
He used to have crisp, sharp upper-body and head movement for defense, and it's waned in his past few fights.
Munguia and Ryder have given Canelo a hard run for his money (not to mention Bivol).
Seems to me he is on the decline.
Your thoughts.
No, he is not, he still beats everybody at 168.
I beg to differ, he is on the decline.
Yet he is so good that many can't beat him yet. However the fact remains that he is on the decline in his performances, it is quite clear.
Idr when he first said it but I'm like 90% sure hes said he's got 5yrs left this year cuz I recall him being 38, 39 by that point.
Yeah, I honestly feel he will retire in around the next year and a half.
I don't remember how old he is but he is an OLD whatever age he is right now.
The wars and sport have made him age physically a lot more than most because he started fighting so young.
He is on the decline like most boxers his age in history. But he wont be allowed to have easy fights like he wants so might be exposed sooner rather than later.
hes admitted he doesnt want any hard fights so hes done for all intents and purposes. he has mentally accepted hes not the best. from here on out its just collecting money with easy cherries
Hes not talking like hes got 5 more yrs. And hell look at Tyson. Canelo might have 20yrs til his last fight lol, but I think his time at the tip top is near its end. He knows this thats why hes not fighting Benavidez or Morrell.
I recall he said about 2 years ago he has about 5 more years or so.
But yeah we'll see how much longer he goes man.
Hes 100% on the decline, but thats saying nothing cuz anyone is on the decline in boxing at Canelo's age. But I saw him do less in this Munguia fight that he woulda done in previous fights. So I think there was more going on here. Personally I lean more to the threat Munguia COULD have been IF Canelo had came up short while attempting more than he did.
In general I think Canelo knows his end is coming. Hes already doing the retirement talk which is always a sign the end is coming at your own hand or at someone elses hand if you don't act on it soon often times.
But the thing about it is, Canelo has said several times he still has around 5 more years of fighting in him.
I do think though he definitely will be retiring soon, way sooner than he has said in several interviews out there.
I would say 1 year and a half and he's gone or less.
I saw this to especially later. I was more thinking he either 1)didn't wanna expend to much energy to try to KO the young guy in the event he came up short putting himself at risk or 2)he felt the fight was easier if he didn't entice Munguia into fighting harder to survive & possibly landing something big on Canelo or just making the fight harder than it needed to be.
But there were definitely opportunities for Canelo to be more aggressive that he didn't take. Its also possible thats just age too. He saw it but couldn't make the move as quick as he felt he should of.
So idk if Canelo was trying to do Munguia any favors but I agree it looked like he was at times.
Can be that it looked like it, but I feel it was mainly due to age and wear and tear with Canelo.
Anzyze his couple fights before Munguia, you see similarities.
Telltale signs have been on the wall before the Munguia fight.
I agree. Canelo didn't carry him.
True, Munguia and Canelo are miles apart talentwise but Canelo fighting lately like he's burnt out and Munguia sky high for the fight of his career, seemed to somewhat close the gap.
Very well said.
It is quite evident that Canelo is definitely on the decline.
The question form here on out is who will beat him. Possibly a cherry-pick gone wrong is on the horizon.
Many have brought that theory out that he carried Munguia.
I definitely think the contrary based off of Canelo's recent several performances. I feel Munguia was genuinely giving Canelo a good fight.
I doubt Canelo carries anyone in fights. He is just not that type of fighter.

He's obviously on the decline, yeah, but I thought he carried Munguia for much of the fight. And I am neutral on Canelo.
