george foreman and larry holmes are the exact same age and they fought in the same division for ~20 years. it's the worst case in history for two champion calibre opponents missing each other. A very strange case. Foreman bowed out in 77' just as Holmes became a contender, and Holmes owned the heavyweight division for the next 7 years. Soon after, Foreman mounted his comeback which lead to his regaining the title, after the Tyson, Douglas, Holyfield and Bowe era. As 40 somethings, they were both a fixture in the rankings, but would once again miss each other. Two of the all-time greatest.

JuanMa vs Gamboa was all the craze for a while back in the day. After Salido smoked JuanMa and Gamboa moved up, that was all she wrote on the matter. An unfortunate victim to Bobby's marinating treatment.

The fight was agreed. Around 2004 time, Winky Wright ruined those plans though. Had Shane beat Wright he would’ve fought a returning Trinidad next. ah okay i see. for some reason i thought you meant around the late 90s lol. quartey-trinidad almost happened around 97-98 i believe. Thurman - Brook, prime unbeaten versions johnny nelson alluded to thurman being somewhat of a admirer of brook in an old interview, stating that thurman came up to him and they were chatting, and thurman said brook was either the best welterweight in the world or one of the best welterweights, and this was when they were both champions. would have been a great fight for sure. brook tried calling out wbc champ danny garcia but was ignored lol we did almost get brook vs. jesse vargas though who was wbo champ, but vargas eventually went with the big money fight in pacquiao tszyu-floyd this possibly could have happened if both fighters were on the same network, as both expressed interest in it, with floyd being more vocal about it.​

Thurman - Brook, prime unbeaten versions

im not sure if this fight was ever close to being made, as mosley moved to welterweight around the same time trinidad moved to super welterweight. trinidad vs quartey was close to being made at one point though. trinidad dropped out of negotiations with quartey however due to having a legal/financial dispute with don king. so we almost got trinidad vs. quartey at one point. Mosley vs Trinidad im not sure if this fight was ever close to being made, as mosley moved to welterweight around the same time trinidad moved to super welterweight. trinidad vs quartey was close to being made at one point though. trinidad dropped out of negotiations with quartey however due to having a legal/financial dispute with don king. so we almost got trinidad vs. quartey at one point.

yep, that's the one that needed to happen. Sadly i get the feeling we may not even get Bivol v Beterbiev. No news on when it can happen, Beterbiev picking up serious injuries at 40 that require surgery etc. I'll believe that happens when it's fight week. I guess Saudi money is the only thing keeping it alive. If the Saudi's lose interest in it and don't reschedule then that fight is dead in the water and Beterbiev probably considers retiring soon. They’re gonna try and reschedule it for later this year but it’s probably last chance saloon for Beterbiev, if hr pulls out again, they likely pull the plug on it.
