What is it that makes you a Fury fan?
This is a guy who has every natural advantage over his opponents and STILL had to take PEDs.
Lies about donating money.
Uses mental illness as an excuse for poor behaviour and contradictions.
Uses religion on and off when needed.
Adulterer.
Now I know we don't look to boxers for their morality, generally, but even in a sport context.. What's he done to warrant such a crazy fanbase?
Beat a 39 yr old Wlad in a staring contest. Okay...I guess that's a decent win.
Chisora three times?? NEXT
Wilder, who we all know is a one trick Pony (It's a great trick, I admit) but is still just that.
I'm genuinely curious.
Is it as simple as patrotism??
Because he's entertaining and funny.
you prefer Fury personality over Crawford or Bivol?
hmm fair enough.
Some people like The Godfather. Some like Jersey Shore.
Can't see much honest or genuine about the "Question".
Fury remained the one and only heavyweight champion of the World for 9 years.
That's the best accomplishment that any athlete can achieve. Let's see how long the new champion can remain on the throne.
How is it not a genuine question?
yeah but he only basically fought wilder over that entire period and then lost it
True that, but it took a trilogy to settle their business.
To be fair, he blasted Whyte too, who was a guy many of the Fury haters were touting as the man who was going to unseat the Gypsy King.
I suspect they would have made the Joshua showdown too if AJ could've stayed on his feet long enough. Hard to tell.
He's funny, entertaining inside and outside the ring.
He's actually really good at boxing, and being that huge isn't necessarily an advantage as most huge people are uncoordinated, Fury is not.
He is not PC/woke, been rejected by the globohomo media establishment and he has a lot of his own demons he is fighting, relates to the ordinary man.
He has his negatives as you list, but so does everyone else, Fury's not the worst by a long way.

Fury is great value in and out of the ring, yeah he talks a lot of Shite but id rather that than some mouse like Bivol, Crawford etc. Adulterer? What a terror, least he hasn’t ran anyone over or beat up his mrs. he’s entertaining as hell, he used to be a lot more witty and sharp on the mic in the first phase of his career. You’ve gotta take what he says with a grain of salt, part of the charm.
also man can fight, also gave us an-all time trilogy with Wilder, I love watching him box, he’s all over the place in the best way. He’s got great heart as shown in his usyk, wilder, wallin, Cunningham fights, you’re not a boxing fan imo if you don’t enjoy those fights.
viva la Tyson Fury !!
"It was announced on 23 May that Chisora face Fury on 23 July 23, 2011 at Wembley Arena, the bookies had Chisora as a slight favourite."
Inconsequential, IMHO.
Fury, along with 99% of these HW bums, are fortunate to be fighting in this decrepit era.
There is no one to build a solid resume off of.
It's not inconsequential, it's endemic of Fury's career up until Wilder 2 when he was given no credit for anything.
After Wilder 2 he then got his credit and people went overboard.
He's always been a very solid world champion level heavyweight, anyone balanced would have always held that view and not the extremes in either direction.
I don't really care for comparisons with other eras I.e the 60s and 70s where most title challengers trained part time after their 12 hours down the coal mine or the 90s when everyone was on about 500 PED's, you can only compare to what's around now.
I'm talking about the first fight when they were both unbeaten
The concensus was fury was a gangly awkward bum who robbed John Mcdermott and Chisora was a solid European/World Title Contender level.
A few picked fury but I was very active on forums at the time and especially amongst British posters most were picking Chisora by stoppage.

Had to stop there :lol1:

Not a massive fan on Fury but I'll give you some counter points.
I was impressed with him for how he went after getting a LOT of derision from the UK public in his early career to beating Wlad.
People forget but he got basically no credit, he was picked to lose badly to Chisora,

People forget but he got basically no credit, he was picked to lose badly to Chisora, Haye was supposed to crush him but pulled out twice, he didn't have a hope in hell against Wlad, David Price was always the UK favourite and then it was AJ.
This video sums up young Tyson Fury for me where you see the real guy behind all the facade and he is a real person who all the hate aimed his way did get to him.

Additionally coming back from nearly 400lbs to beat Wilder was something like we have never seen in boxing, like seriously have we seen anyone come back from being in that bad shape to beat an undefeated champion?
Hes had entertaining fights too.
He's highly flawed individual, but to give him no credit is silly, he's just a man at the end of the day, he says a lot of silly **** but he's not evil lol.
I can respect this POV.
Speaking of Price though, didn’t he pull out of fighting him at one point?
Fury fell into the abyss after beating the last Ukrainian he faced in Wlad, who knows how despairing he is now that he lost to one...
I was a fan but the shït talking clown antics and loudmouth dad put me right off.
I'm happy never to see or hear from him and his family ever again.
I don't think I'm a fan of anyone as such. I respect some fighters more. Typically it's got nothing to do with anything outside of boxing.
Many on here would think I'm a 'Fury hater' because I agree with a lot of the things you've mentioned.
But he's also a very good fighter, loads of grit in the ring, has a personality (a schit one, but it is still a big personality), and is one of the best of the era. It just so happens that people laud him more than he deserves and let him get away with fantasy wins.
