That's what 'Big John' said to Tyson in the corner before Round 11.
That could have made all the difference.
How long before Fury figures out that this bloke shouldn't be anywhere near his camp and certainly nowhere near his corner?
Sorry, I cannot see it being anywhere near being a draw. Had Usyk winning 1-3, Fury 4-6, Usyk clearly 7,8 (+2),9,10. Fury might have taken the 11th. 12th was close, but again Usyk landed more. Giving everything I can to Fury, it makes it 7:5 (+ KD) for Usyk and that’s being very generous. Rewatched the fight with audio off.. It wasn’t really that close - it was closer to 9:3 than a draw. 7:5 or 8:4 are the most objective, IMO.
Usyks moments were ten fold greater than Fury but Boxing only cares about how many rounds you won. The first two rounds were so uneventful it begs for controversy. It's dangerous for both sides to do so little because those toss-up rounds can decide the hole damn thing.
Eh.. last round waa up for grabs... Hard to call. Fury arguably won the first two also. And had a good run a bit later. It was arguably a draw. It could be argued,

Wouldn't make any difference. He couldn't match usyk at that point. He might have tried being more agressive and would likely walk into something to put him down.
fury strategy for the whole fight was spot on - something similar to what bellew did, but neither could match usyk’s gears.

I expect Fury to bring back the Kronk gym style in their rematch. Usyk damn near knocked him out this time.
In the rematch I don’t expect Fury to fight on the outside or off the back foot because of a lack of movement; He would become a stationary target if he does. It would leave him very open and vulnerable to Usyk’s power.
The next fight he is going to have to smother Usyk on the inside in order to neutralize his power.
I see the logic behind changing tactics; I just think this was by far the best game plan to beat Usyk and he couldn’t. Chasing Usyk will make the fight much easier for Usyk in my opinion. Usyk loves being chased, and Fury would gas much earlier and would need to take much higher risk of being KD/KO. Keeping it long made Usyk needed to work extremely hard just to get to Fury. That’s why it was so impressive to see Usyk being able to get to Fury with 7” shorter reach, and Fury basically dancing away from him for most of the fight. Nobody managed to do that before and many tried. Not even close… Usyk is a special special fighter.
it was all over once big john nutted one of usyks mates
then he puts a nail in his sons coffin by telling him he has the fight in the bag when hes behind
12 was close - so it could have gone for fury, although usyk was the one pressing it and I gave it to usyk. 10 and 11 very clear usyk rounds.
i don't think people realise fully what is so good about usyk - be goes up and down in gears as rounds go by. Aj might have won the 12th in their 2nd fight. i think it is because usyk adjusted and played it somewhat safe. Same for fury fight.
i think usyk navigation of fights is as perfect as it gets.

A boxer should KNOW to never leave it in the judges hands PERIOD.
Thats no excuse. Ill also add that a boxer should always win each round CONVINCINGLY, meaning a knock down. If you didnt knock an opponant down, dont think you won the round.

It was a very close fight
Overall I think he could've pressed Usyk when he had him hurt, same for Joshua, both stood off when they did damage. Commentators were perplexed as to why Fury wasn't pressing Usyk once he had hurt him.
I'm not sure Fury trained for this particular style of fight. Did he really train to box Usyk on the backfoot? If not he can be better prepared for a rematch, to capitalise on what works/worked. That's if he keeps his head before then, he's likely to fall into depression imo. Rematch won't be in October that's for sure.
I am sure Fury and the team decided to box Usyk on the backfoot, which is 100% the right strategy in my opinion. Bellew did the same and had good success as long as Usyk didn’t switch to a higher gear.
The reason Fury didn’t press more is that he couldn’t. He couldn’t because of two reasons: first, it took a lot of effort to hurt Usyk in those rounds. Have you noticed Fury threw significantly more punches than he usually does (30% more than in the Klitschko fight) and was missing a lot? That took a lot out of him. He had to do that just to keep up with Usyk. Additionally, all those early-round body punches and the pressure (both mental and physical) Usyk put on Tyson in the first three rounds affected Fury.
Finally, and most importantly, it is not about what Fury didn’t do, but what Usyk did. He did the same in the AJ fights, Bellew, and CW fights—he moved through the gears. Once Usyk put it in a higher gear from round seven, Fury fell apart, just like most of Usyk's opponents do. It is not about what Fury didn’t do, but what Usyk did. Fury is a remarkable fighter, a Hall of Famer, and a top 10 all-time great heavyweight. Usyk is just that good. It is not just physical skillset, but Usyk mindset, just inspirational. Great sportsman, but even more remarkable human being.
A few years back, I saw Usyk and Loma as very similar, but they are very different indeed. Loma doesn’t have Usyk’s mental strength, not even close. But than again, I can think only of a very few boxers in the history who had it on this level (Ali comes to mind for sure).
To me it was exactly the same pattern as the AJ 2. AJ tried hard in the 12th too (after the 10th round that usyk hurt him and totally outclassed), and usyk navigated it pretty easy. Pretty similar to this one. Usyk is a master in navigating fights. i dont think fury could have done anything better - he was already exhausted by trying to survive 9-11th.

However, subsequent to the 9th round from the second half of round 10 and all the way through the championship rounds of 11 and 12; Usyk appeared to have punched himself out.
I personally believe that Usyk lost those rounds and the fight itself but won the decision. I just thought that Tyson Fury was beating Usyk to the punch all night by throwing and landing many more punches than Oleksandr Usyk.

He turned it up as much as usyk allowed him to. Usyk switched the gear up from the 7th, and fury was not able to follow. similar to saying that bellew or chisora or aj should have turned it up the max. they couldnt, and d fury couldnt. Usyk simply has higher gears and doesn't fight the whole fight in the same gear.
That is what I feel people don't realise. Usyks ceiling is much higher, and when he goes there for a few rounds opponents fall apart.

Fury blew it. I've always said leading up to the build up of this fight; That Fury would have to make it a very physical fight in order to win and wear the smaller man down but he did not do that.
Yet he was still able to hurt Usyk in spurts but was too reluctant to turn it all the way up. Now we've seen Fury exposed when he is forced to fight on an even playing field.
He is very vulnerable and susceptible to knockdowns when he chooses to fight from the outside and off the back foot.

I don't know, Fury was more competitive than I expected after the 9th, he was landing heavy shots in the 12th (and taking some, granted), I didn't think he had that left. Who knows what more there was if he was told he needed a KO to win.

I don't know if Fury was 'exposed' in the way we usually talk about boxers. Fury was in a class of his own. He still is. Just isn't as good as Usyk pure and simple. Maybe that counts as being 'exposed' but not in my opinion. Still beats every single HW below him though.
