Good fight but let's not pretend the Ngannou performance was a fluke. Fury fought EXACTLY the same way against usyk, for better or worse. He isnt better than this
Nahhh he was boxing on the outside. He’s had more success against Usyk in a loss than he was against Ingannou in a win.
he was able to dodge most of usyk’s punches easily on the inside and out and shown a lot of confidence to do so for the most part. And usyk is way faster than ingannou so it was pretty impressive.
against ingannou everything was just wrong, he had zero confidence on his elusiveness and ran out of ideas quickly. He was gassed by the 3rd round.
fury against usyk was fully in control in rounds 4-6 or even round 7. Then lost focused and almost got KTFO. You can’t play with usyk and expect him not to take advantage.
Saw zero evidence of Fury being gassed against Ngannou. I saw way too much respect.
He was pot shotting exactly the same way. Rewatch it..

He looked way better cmon now. His timing and conditioning was better. Very elusive for the most part too. But lost focused in the mid rounds, constantly showboating and lowering his guard and paid the price for it and almost KTFO. You just cant play with usyk, he kees on coming and keeps on adjusting on the fly.

Yeah have to agree and the excuses the boxing world and the fanboys gave Fury was that he didn't train properly or take it seriously.
This was the best shape Fury has ever looked and he still got his ass kicked by the older and smaller man.
Fury looked good, but he was facing an opponent levels above Ngannou. It's not difficult to knock Fury down, but when Usyk clipped him, Fury foolishly tried to stay on his feet and took too many clean shots. He should've just went down or taken a knee.
He might not have been confident that he could have gotten up steadily
Nah, he fought much better tonight, punches were crisp and varied, good movement.
I think he got arrogant and thought little of Francis now honestly.
His punches were crisp against Ngannou..
Fury fought a lot better than he did against Ngannou.
There were times he was plying with Usyk in the ring, which is what led to complacency and the eventual result. I believe Usyk took some time to figure out how to deal with Fury because Fury was quite good in some of those early/middle rounds.

Agreed. Will do worse in a rematch. It wasn't just a lack of training for Ngannou. His legs are gone, has lost the explosiveness and quick pivots, reflexes and defensive movement is slower and more predictable. One the decline no doubt about it. Respect to Usyk all the same.

Perfectly put but I'd like to explore this a bit. Why couldn't Fury have closed in on top of him and beat him down like with Wallin? Is it a matter of endurance at that age? I saw no inspiration from him after that. He kept resetting with no pretense of any defensive awareness. He hasn't been able to target the head at range for years. The game plan should have been to crowd him, body shot him and contain Usyk. Like in the mid rounds. But then he went back to this half @zz'd Ali style, which is the exact style Otto Wallin had success against before Fury adjusted. Idk, all and all Fury looked weak, in attentive and disinterested as the fight wore on.
I still had Fury by a point, but think Wilder 3 took a lot out of him. He's not what he was, but still beat Usyk imo. Nash out

Fury is physically breaking down and mentally I don't think hes as hungry anymore.
I think when he retired after the Whyte fight he meant it, but he likes the attention and money so he tried to keep going with easy fights until he couldn't avoid Usyk anymore.
Fury was given an absoloute gift tonight in that version of Usyk, Usyk REALLY doesn't like it to the body and every time fury dug him there he looked noticeably hurt.
Considering everyone spoke about Usyk's body weakness, the fact he was so easy to hit there and looked so effected every time he was, I mean could fury have asked for any more?
Additionally Usyk's stamina was lower than usual and he couldn't keep up the movement.
In the end Usyk just had a bit better legs and more desire to actually win.
Honestly I don't know who I pick in a rematch, I guess fury is the same but Usyk might be even more terrible so Fury has a chance.
Those fights with Deontay took alot from him, although younger than Usyk the mileage on him is way over Usyk.
It looked like the Kronk style is replaced by the younger Fury who beat Wlad. But it just doesn't hold up against tougher opponents than old wlad.
Fury fought tactically the best fight he could at this stage, but physically he's declined a lot.
Rounds 3-7 Usyk slowed down so much man, he was barely doing anything, it was a nice leisurely pace where Fury could just pick shots from range
He hurt Usyk multiple times but didn't go forward
When it looked like he had completley taken over the fight and just needed to pile on some pressure to get Usyk to wilt he didn't go forward.
It's because he can't.
His legs are stiff as a board, he used his reach well, used his long arms to put in Usyk's face and keep him off
But there was no second gear there at all.
You telling me the Fury from Wilder 2 has Usyk that hurt and that befuddled and he doesn't jump all over him?
Fury never went forward with intent once, because he can't.
He is what he is now
I am not saying it was wrong, but it was the same fighter. I don't recommend rematching Ngannou if I were him. Ngannous weakness doesn't show against fury. He can take his punches.
Fury fought a million times better tonight. He was more agile, quicker, acurate and active. He also took a lot more damage. He just fought a much more skilled opponent tonight.
More active? He did almost nothing the first three rounds. Tactically the same. Pot shotting from the outside. He nailed ngannou clean several times.
He had a good run with uppercuts but it was the same fury.
