Can it really be that Spence will jump the line and get in there with Fundora?
Fundora needs to rematch Tim - who fought on bravely {and erroneously] when he could have pulled out before the start of the 5th and got at worst a draw on the cards
and......
if Spence has anything about him he should rematch Crawford at 154 if that's where both of them see there next fight
Anything else and we're talking major in-house manipulation and favortism
I think I remember an almost similar situation in the past when a fighter was coming from a brutal one-sided beatdown at welterweight and got a title fight immediately at 154. It was miguel cotto vs yuri foreman for the WBA 154 belt. cotto got dropped, stopped by pac. And managed to get a title fight at 54 after. eerily similar to bud/spence situation.
There is a difference.
pacquiao was not looking to move up to 154 after cotto. he was in negotiations with floyd. when that failed, he ended up fighting clottey. then after that, decided to fight at 154 against margarito for a vacant belt. the picture at 154 at this point is, wbc=pac, wba=cotto, while the ibf and wbo has unknowns as champions. they could've rematched, but nobody really had any stomach for it after seeing the first fight kinda similar to bud/spence situation. the only difference is, bud was not in negotiations with boots.
i dont know if spence deserves it
cotto was alot more established when he lost to pac.
cotto then has 14 wins in world title fights while spence has 7 wins in world title fights.
cotto also was a two-division champion back then while spence has no proof he could do well in another division aside from 147.
i dont think most people took foreman seriously though as one of the top guys. he was just a guy to beat to grab a quick belt. fundora, tsyzu, and madrimov are all top guys and them fighting a ww coming off a dominating loss would look bad and be bad, not that spence cant win, but there are just better fights to make among themselves. foreman didnt really have anyone to fight and no one wanted him to fight anyone. win or lose it didnt derail any plans for foreman where fundora and tsyzu can rematch or madrimov can fight foreman/tsyzu etc...but they arent big names and big names do what they want and get what they want. story of boxing

He thinks he's an angler that can land a whopper payday > beat Fundora and rematch Bud for 2 belts
Won't be for two belts. If Spence or the rematch clause get in the way, WBO belt gets stripped.
Nobody is stopping Fundora from fighting Spence.
But he would have to drop that WBO belt according to WBO President...

Fundora's next move will reveal what kind of mentality he has.
He already has two belts.
He either chases money or defend his unified belts.
Unfortunately boxing is a business, Spence is the money fight for Fundora and I suspect that’s the fight he takes next.
A rematch is definitely warranted, but I wouldn’t bank on it happening next.
You are sadly, and disgracefully correct
spence thinks hes a big shark fish ready to devour the 154 division
