Ryan would’ve easily been that guy but lol It's possible if he keeps on winning and able to get rid of that "scary behavior" of his. There's no doubt everyone in his division wants him for a dance partner. But I'd rather see him retire early.

The reason people want to see Benavidez vs Canelo, Bivol vs Canelo rematch, or heck even a Beterbiev vs Canelo is simply because all three has a good to great chance of Canelo losing. The reason Canelo doesn't want any of those fights is also the same reason, because he knows he's very likely to lose again. Forget Mayweather, it was the Bivol loss that really, truly broke Canelo in spirit. I think it was aging Golovkin to retirement and still needing a judges gift twice.

It's a shame Inoue isn't from North America, because nobody over here is interested in actually facing top guys 3 times a year and actually being great.

Canelo is the face of Mexico and aspects of North America and a bit of South/Central America. If he was international like AJ he'd be fighting in Saudi. That's why there is the push to try and get him and Benvavidez in Saudi which in my opinion is nothing more than Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez 2.0. Saudi would overpay for a simple mandatory. They aren't heavyweights. Benavidez doesn't sell and isn't as popular as GGGimmick when it comes to Canelo opponents. The true value in terms of money may be no more than Canelo vs Plant. Yes, casuals obviously think Turki is stupid and that he will overpay canelo to fight just his mandatory.

Its not like Canelo was/is really a HUGE star anyway. He was a significant step down from Floyd and Pac in terms of mainstream public awareness.
