I think we'd be surprised at how many fighters simply retire because the money isn't there to entice them, especially the veterans. The guys who are hanging around for 7-8 figure purses will be gone. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a possible consequence. The Thurmans and Garcias of the world would be snapped out of existence.
By branching out, you mean becoming a promoter like DLH?
No like Floyd when he was doing his own shows
I guess only time will tell
Imo , no it wouldn’t exacerbate inactivity actually it would cause the opposite
Fighters would have to fight more often for money
I think it makes total sense for the fighters to realize that cash cow is gone and back to the drawing board
Andi ain’t no fan of any promotional outfit but it’s not hard to see that PBC is having problems
Funny enough before fighters with that big drawing power etc etc would branch out on their own but Canelo’s seems to not wanna do that and if anything Uncle Al should of learned something from the big flop of SlowEddie and Dazn

I think PBC may be in even dire straits because they just lost SHO and are trying to make a good impression with Amazon, which gives Canelo even more leverage over them. If PBC had any dignity, they would give Canelo an ultimatum.
Do you think that once the cash-cows are gone, then the budgets and purses shrink overall? That may only exacerbate the inactivity.

I think your logic is priceless
Fighters would start to realize what the reality of things really is in boxing
No more guarantees of 35 million plus wtv
PBC has got to be in trouble just like Dazn was when they did their own thing with GGG and Canelo
These fighters are sucking the money pit dry with ludicrous demands etc etc etc
Best he retires instead of investing another 35 to fight another Fielding

I don't think Canelo retiring is the ideal solution. GGG's retirement surely didn't help MW, and he isn't the same draw that Canelo is. I don't think that the fighters would want Canelo to retire either because he is their biggest purse.
Let's think: Canelo was supposedly offered a $35M guarantee....what is stopping PBC from investing that money into fighters and match-ups? I think PBC is being held hostage by Canelo because they don't have enough faith in their own ability to build up their stable. I used to believe that a cash-cow retiring would create a vacuum for another super-star because there would be more of the budget to go around, but I'm not so sure about that logic anymore.

I’d rather Canelo retires cause he ain’t fighting the big names but then gonna be force fed this chit ; no thank you
Wish all these guys would think of themselves
Id rather 100% Berlanga vs Munguia
That I can digest

Worse than BJS, but better than Fielding/Yildrim. Berlanga's only potential value is that he's Nuyorican, but Canelo has already fought at MSG (against Fielding ironically). Maybe Canelo's debut @ Barclays? I think Berlanga needs to beat Munguia in order to make the fight a possibility. Berlanga's inactivity is hurting him more than he realizes.

Yes your right and unfortunately after that chit show last night , he probably does move up the rankings
I can’t view this as anything else but another Saunders , Fielding or Yildrim kind of fight
Berlanga is the same guy who fought three years ago which I thought was impossible to be meaning he’s should of gotten better or anything of that sort
If Canelo were to choose a Berlanga , well then , again , I would say he needs to just fughin retire

Berlanga is ranked top 10 in every sanctioning body, and will probably move up the rankings by beating McCrory (who's also ranked in the WBA, IBF, WBO). I don't think Berlanga is next, but he is an option. I'd prefer Berlanga/Munguia.

I find some of the stuff he says and the people who believe his chit to be some of the most ignorant people around , so fughin gullible
You can easily tell the man is just talking pure bullchit , lying straight to your face , saying things which are almost impossible
Last night he kept saying how Berlanga is in the race for the Canelo sweepstakes
How ? Why ? For what ?
Insane and totally full of chit

Totally! When Eddie starts to speak a stench envelopes the immediate area and it is said that BS detectors start to go off in unison.

Hatton had the issue of ballooning up in weight too, a problem which inactivity can only worsen.
I wonder if Berlanga's inactivity is his own doing, or is it MR? I'm sure MR wants to build him up for a potential Canelo or Munguia fight....but I think Berlanga is picky about opponents or money. Maybe MR is being careful not to risk him fighting for fear he may lose? I would love to know why he was out for 8 months when he just signed to a new promoter.
I always figure fighters want to fight... I don't know that though. The bolded... I think that is what management tries to produce, the so called money fight. I guess the thinking is, if one losses a big fight, they get paid well. Given Berlanga's performance I do think the management does not have much faith in him for the long hall. We see how limited he is. When he starts to fight better opponents I do not see a future for him.
It is a general problem. These guys want to stay undefeated, not get exposed, its all wrong. If they just fought, got experience, they would improve. People talk about Berlanga making adjustments... how can you make such adjustments, try new things, etc fighting so infrequently? We have created a boxing culture where no one wants to take the risks to get better.
I remember when this attitude destroyed Ricky Hatton. He beat Zoo in a great fight that showed he had talent, then his father seemingly impressed upon him the need not to lose and he became the super humper! The attitude is poison and Berlanga is doing himself no favors...He would be a lot better off fighting a lot, maybe even losing, and working out how to box instead of trying to get by on power... and he aint no Julian jackson lol.

Slow Eddie is so full of fughin chit
WOW

Berlanga's other problem is inactivity. He only fought once in 2023, and 8 months later he faces McCrory. I think the inactivity is a big reason for his in-ring woes. It's hard to be confident in your skill-set and talent when you're barely fighting. Berlanga still feels like a prospect.

This fight did not move the needle for Berlanga. His defense is a bit better but the level of competition was subpar. Still thinking too much, swinging too hard and the need to recover. Plus he is not active enough through the rounds. He did looked better when he started let his punches go and was more fluid, but again it was a C level of competition.

Agree, though giving McCrory a C rating is generous.
