The kid’s delusional as hell but he clearly wants to make the best fights happen. He was the driving factor in making the Tank super fight happen and I believe he’s pushed for this Haney fight too.
The kid brings a huge audience also, he could easily be way more selective with his opposition.
I appreciate it & respect it. Same with Devin whos not playing games either like so many others.
I'd prefer guys not fook around building up to the big cashout fight 3 or 4yrs from now. If you are a indie top ten guy & not fighting the best available opponent/another indie top ten level guy idk wtf you are doing with your boxing career. I mean I wouldn't hate marinate a lil bit in fairness but guys are still not picking quality opposition each time out as a high level, often undefeated, guy.
Whatever you, I or anyone else think Ryan can or can't do he should feel he can compete with any other top ten guy & if he doesn't feel like that he should retire today. Theres easier ways for Ryan to make money. Dude was a millionaire before he did anything in pro boxing. His whole play in boxing should be to chase his ceiling & gtfo after he exploits his ceiling for money/legacy or retire if its not high enough to exploit.
I get cashing out while you can. That's an obvious wish for most fighters to be honest and without Ryan's star power, he couldn't demand these type of cash out fights. I guess I miss the old days where fighters worked their way up and earned it. I know Ryan somewhat skips the line because of his star power. My point though is that him having more fights can only help with his experience when he takes on the elite. That is if he truly wants to win. There's one thing believing you can and another that you're lacking the experience/skill to do so.
Jake Paul making money finally made him say 'fuck it, I can lose and still make money' Previous to Tank that he was ducking EVERYONE, now he just wants to cash out.
Agree Devin isn't a great matchup for Ryan. That said among the big fight options he's probably the best fight despite that. That Rolly fight was imo the best option but idk if thats realllllllly a big fight. I'd for sure favor Ryan over Rolly tho. I don't favor him over Devin.
I suspect Ryan is gone well before 30yrs. Hes got a short attention span & has done about 8 different things already with some degree of dedication (boxer, actor, social media creator, model, poker player, etc) so I think once his ceiling in the game starts getting clearly lower than he sees it rn he'll start on another path I'd bet.
Tyson Fury will probably box til hes 40. Tank, Teo & Shakur will probably be around til 33-35+. I don't think Ryan will be boxing at 30 even if he starts winning these big fights.
Honestly, Ryan should take the Rolly/Issac Cruz type fights. They're exciting and further builds his name in boxing. He just wants to go straight to the top and unfortunately he's not good enough for them. He should just continue to build up his name against other decently popular fighters and then when the Haney fight comes, it could be that much bigger even though he'll lose anyway.
Actions > Words man. He could’ve sat out and waited for Rolly, instead he’s fighting arguably the #1 guy in the division.
He wouldve looked even more of an @ss than he already is had he waited for Rollie. Haney is #2 rn. Teo is still the man, even with that wack fight last night.
Honestly yeah, i dont like him either but he def is great for boxing, even if he losses to devin i hope its a good fight so he can keep promoting boxing for the masses
He's making big money.
But he'll be a big underdog here won't he? I can't see him being that competitive.
Garcia highlights if anything how difficult it is to get the fights made but other top fighterswill all take him because he's probably beatable.
Reminds me a bit of Shawn Porter because really in what would have been a golden era of Welterweights he was the only one worth supporting because the other top dogs would fight him and Shawn was the best guy they would fight.
That's what it felt like anyway.
Agree. Ryan was a successful amateur. Hes been a very solid pro. Hes great at social media enhancing his casual base. And hardcore boxing fans can be hipster snobs like the music fan who "discover" an artist & then start hating them when they become popular.
So I get why fans dislike Ryan, hes gotten where hes at "too easy" to some ppl, but at the end of the day he was a intelligent outlier with building his brand & image, like more boxers should be doing to up their Q score, & he still gots to win the fights to get anywhere in boxing & outside of Tank he has.
Yes. He brings eyeballs for sure. He also has real amatuer pedigree. People forget that but that might be more Ryan's fault than anything lol.
He did push for Rolly and Rolly moved on to fight Pitbull instead. Haney isn't a big draw but after Tank and Ryan he's probably the third biggest of the bunch. This is probably the second most lucrative fight Ryan could make after Tank.
Ryan is in a position where everyone wants to fight him, he’s the cash cow and he’s beatable. I think he could’ve chosen much easier opponents than Tank and Haney. I don’t like the kid but I respect his willingness to fight the top guys.
He could’ve pushed for a much easier fight. Rolly for example. Haney isn’t a draw like Tank either, the risk vs reward isn’t in Garcia’s favour IMO.

Disagree. He's simply a high profile opportunist stepping in where more credible fights should happen. He's a sign that boxing is failing.
I'm hoping Haney pulls a Floyd v Corrales on the guy.
do you see those so-called "more credible" fighters stepping up? Because I definitely dont.
But I DO see Ryan stepping up......
Nah, he wanted to fight Rollie instead of Haney. Now that it backfired he comes back to Haney. Kid is a clown and hope Haney beats the breaks off this crybaby

He got paid 30 million dollars to fight Tank and will no doubt make a boat load of money here too. I think Ryan is judged way too harshly but idk what we're trying to praise him for in this instance.

He’s great for teenage girls with crushes. Anyone saying otherwise is a teenage girl.

Best thing you ever said so far.

Haney fight is a bad fight for him. It'll only further make him look bad. I would have given him a better shot at Tank, but not Haney. If Tank was the dude who took the fight out of Ryan, Haney will be the one that outboxes him to the point where he's got no real good opponent left that he can probably beat at the highest level. If he continues, he'll probably stick with B fighters at best and feed off them.

hes fantastic, the best thing about him actually is that he makes for a great opponent because hes pretty hopeless in the ring & he has fans who pay for his fights, for now anyway
