Recently had a poster by the name of MulaKO tell me Cryan is a bigger star than Haney.
Ryan gets paid less than Haney every single fight (bar the Tank fight).
Haney puts up better viewership numbers on a fight by fight comparison (outside of the Tank fight).
Haney sells more tickets (Garcia’s last fight ticket sales for the Duarte fight were terrible, I remember him getting mocked).
A wake up call that being a more ‘exciting fighter’ doesn’t make you a bigger star or make more people tune in to fight you.
Ryan has more followers on social media, whom are mostly kids and women that’s about it.
I’d invite other posters to give their take with reasoning.
So people make threads for validation? Is this a sport forum or a court of law?
Jesus Christ, you gotta go to the psychiatric ward or something. Go take your damn pills, never seen an emotional cry baby so angry over boxing debate.
:bottle::bottle::bottle:
Your a beautiful emotional kunt

Now send me back 5 more responses
Smfh

1 day later still emotional. Jesus Christ, you definitely need some p**y. Why are you still angry? My kids are definitely more mature than you.
2 people actually agreed with me. but 100 people could agree or disagree.. couldn’t really care less, I don’t think like a child or need validation like you brother.
Hence why I always go against the grain and get most of my predictions right!

So 10 people responded and according to you 10 people’s opinion is wrong
Now explain to me who is the emotional one ?

Why you so emotional over boxing debate? Because a few people agree with you, somehow you think you’re right :lol1:
Stop taking boxing debate so emotionally, guys like you ruin it for the people that are in here to have fun. smh.

Here we have cRyin Garcia supposedly made tons of money in the Tank fight, yet he's still desperate looking for fights. Then we had Charlo making ample amount in the Canelo fight, and he's on a long vacation enjoying his million dollars, don't care about taking his next fight. Did Ryin really made that much or the figures being spread around are bogus?
Not sure if he made what he claims, I just know he’s definitely not as big as some think he is. Nothing adds up
Even coming into Ryan’s last fight i heard non stop that Tank vs Garcia PPV buys were carried by Garcia and that he was the A Side. Now after this complete flop of a number im seeing a lot of mental gymnastics on how this is actually a "good" gate lmao.
"There was no championship on the line for the Garcia fight"
"He fought a no name while Hector garcia was champion"
Are we gonna pretend people knew Hector Garcia after even you the hardcores were calling him a nobody? How many people in that arena knew he was a 130 world champ without google?
Ryan is coming off a 1.2 Million buy ppv fight and yet barely does a 1 Million dollar gate on a free show and cant even sell out the arena with its cheap ticket pricing.
Bellator MMA who just went out of business used to do numbers like this. It was always considered weak.
Meanwhile tank going INTO the Garcia fight took on no name Hector Garcia. Tank does $5.185 million in ticket revenue with 19,731 paid attendees and 200-215k PPV buys.
So somehow tank did better numbers than Ryan against a no name before their mega fight and im supposed to believe Ryan was the A side when he cant even do a quarter of the numbers post mega fight?
I’m telling you, Ryan isn’t as big as some people think he is. At all. Down the stretch will keep showing it
Among casual fans it's Ryan Garcia. Among boxing fans it's Devin Haney. In recent years, King Ry has just not been active enough for boxing fans to hop on his bandwagon and also, when you factor in his last two performances; They were absolutely pathetic.
I can agree. I definitely preferred Haney vs Regis over the Garcia-Duarte fight. Credit to Ryan, he got the job done but it was a boring fight. Nothing ‘wow’d me
Bless brother
Thank you for stating the obvious
In no way or form did I say make a thread about this but the emotional kunt he is just can’t accept what he got in return
Thank you for making it clear and seeing through his bullchit
Why you so emotional over boxing debate? Because a few people agree with you, somehow you think you’re right :lol1:
Stop taking boxing debate so emotionally, guys like you ruin it for the people that are in here to have fun. smh.
Haney = bigger boxing star
Garcia = more mainstream name.
Non boxing people are more likely to know Ryan, while boxing people are more likely to know Haney.
Yeah that’s kinda how I see it too.
Haney gets paid more per fight, puts more asses on seats and does better live gate, but Ryan gets paid more outside of boxing
I don't think you understand how this stuff works.
Haney is guaranteed a bigger split because Haney is the champion, and that's part of sanctioning organization rules. That's a stupid thing to bet on.
What demonstrates star power is that the full purse will be bigger vs Ryan than it would be against anyone else. If you really want to look at facts, which it seems evident you don't, you'd look at what Ryan's opponents make vs him vs what they make in other fights. What they make in other fights is their proven earning pull. What will you say if they fight and Haney makes more vs a contender in Ryan than he did against a champion in Prograis? Tank Davis was averaging 250K buys by himself. That jumped up to 1.2 million vs Ryan.
You're still missing the point that social media followers equal casual appeal, and that's money.
You said you didn't agree with Brother Mouzone but he literally laid out facts for you. Haney's net worth is lower by far than Ryan's. You can look at their social media accounts and see how many followers they have for yourself. As of this post, Haney has 2.6 million on Instagram. Ryan has 10.3 million.
Social media followers are absolutely an indicator of financial pull. Look who else is a huge pull. Jake Paul. He's got 25.8 million followers on the Gram and has proven to be a huge PPV pull despite being a mediocre fighter. Canelo has 16.7 million. Tyson Fury has 6.7 million. AJ has 16.1 million. Those are all the guys with proven PPV pulls over 400k. The outlier on Instagram is Inoue, because the big social media app in Japan is LINE, rather than the big ones in the West. He's got a ton of followers there, and he does huge business in Japan.
Then look at guys who don't have good buys. Look how poorly Benavidez (466k) v Andrade (1 mil) did. If you can't even get a couple million people to follow you for free on social media, how are they supposed to buy tickets or PPV to watch you fight?
Bud Crawford only has 1.6 million, and that's recent since becoming undisputed.
It's kinda sad, but fighters that have solid social media presence are going to be bigger stars than ones who don't.
Thanks for a non-childish/non emotional response and keeping it strictly boxing.
“Haney is guaranteed a bigger split because Haney is the champion, and that's part of sanctioning organization rules. That's a stupid thing to bet on.”
Only reason I mentioned this is because the guy I replied to said Devin wasn’t a star because he conceded B side against Kambosos, which was one of his points. So I countered that and applied the same logic. But again, that’s not always the case either. Tim Tzyu is B side currently against Thurman, look it up. Thurman doesn’t have a belt and he’s never fought at 154.
I agree with some of what you’re saying here. I don’t think social media has ‘zero’ to do with being a star but I still disagree it makes you a bigger star because you have more followers than the next guy.
Fury has a large amount of followers but still hasn’t done great numbers in the U.S on PPV. I think his last fight against Ngannanou did less than 100k buys.
But there’s a difference between guys like Tank, Fury, Bud, Haney etc & a guy like Ryan Garcia. All the fighters aforementioned except Ryan gained their following through boxing fans. Ryan gained his followers outside boxing, which is why a large portion of his ‘social media’ fan base hasn’t translated into spectacular numbers - this has been brought up many times in the past.
I’m not saying he doesn’t have star power at all.
Since we mentioned Benavidez. I’ll give you an example. Benavidez may have only 500k followers.
But Canelo vs Benavidez is cracking 1 million buys, easily. Might even do 1.3-1.5 million. Despite the fact Canelo only did 600k against Jermell. But Jermell has around 100,000 more followers than David.
Chris Arreola vs Andy Ruiz did the same amount of buys as Haney vs Lomachenko.
Does this mean Ruiz is a bigger star than Haney and Loma? It doesn’t, you have to compare on a fight by fight basis.
There’s plenty of other factors to take into consideration outside of social media, though it helps.
Among casual fans it's Ryan Garcia. Among boxing fans it's Devin Haney. In recent years, King Ry has just not been active enough for boxing fans to hop on his bandwagon and also, when you factor in his last two performances; They were absolutely pathetic.
Haney wouldn't be looking for a fight with Ryan if he wasn't a bigger name. Same with Tank. Haney wanted that fight, Tank did not. Haney needs a big name to get any sort of ratings or PPV buys. Ryan is low-risk/high reward. That's why Haney isn't looking to unify with Teo, too much risk and not enough reward.
Well said brother
Seems like you are trying to have your cake and eat it too . You want to discredit Ryan for having by far the biggest PPV out of the two because it was w/ tank .But then try to give credit to Haney when comparing Ryan vs Duarte ,w/ Haney vs Regis when Regis is a far bigger name than Duarte and that fight was in Haney's backyard.
A star incompasses all factors : ppv, ticket sales, earnings , endorsements , social media followers and influence.
pinning down , net worth, career earnings , ticket sales for boxing is all over the place depending on source .
Google : devin haney career earnings, Google : ryan garcia career earnings

From the article :
Haney has a net worth of about $5 million., Haney is endorsed by nutrition supplement company SNAC, Haney is extremely active on social media. He has over 1.2 million followers on Instagram, 161.9k followers on Twitter, and over 12K followers on Facebook.
From the article

Ryan Garcia has a net worth of around $10 million, Garcia’s main sponsor is Gymshark, an apparel and accessories brand. He has also worked with 1800 Tequila, Dior, and Gatorade. Garcia is one of the most popular athletes on social media. He has more than 5.3 million followers on TikTok, 201K followers on Twitter, and 9.5 million followers on Instagram.
You started a thread , and seems like you are upset it has not gone your way . Everyone that has replied literally has said Ryan is the bigger star , it is what it is.

I didn’t start the thread for anyone to agree with me, I started the thread to hear arguments with valid points. So far I’ve heard very few just childish commenters, you’ve probably provided the best argument though I still don’t agree.
I’m not talking about anything non-boxing related such as social media because people have criticised Ryan’s viewership numbers many times on TV because those followers haven’t translated into views.
Since you said a star encompasses all factors, then being undisputed and a two weight champion certainly has to get thrown in the mix.
I’m not discrediting Ryan at all, he’s a ‘name’.
We don’t have to discuss Ryan vs Duarte in comparison to Haney vs Regis.
We can compare their last 10 fights and Haney has earned more in every single fight bar the Tank fight. One sole fight is your main point, if we compare all of them it’s not even close. VIEWERSHIP wise, TICKET wise or PURSE wise. But we’ll agree to disagree and I respect you didn’t throw out childish insults.
As relates to your point above.
if/when Ryan is the B side against Haney and he earns the lesser split will you concede lol?
I don't think you understand how this stuff works.
