Just watching the presser from today... and the reveal of the Saudis' tacky looking belt.
It sounds like it was said that the winner of Joshua v Ngannou will fight the winner of Fury v Usyk. Did I hear that right?
Back to the belt. The four world bodies were listed on the visual they put on screen... do we then assume that they are on board? Therefore do we assume that, for example, the IBF won't strip their belt so that the next fight is still for Undisputed?
The things are becoming interesting.
So, Saudis made it clear: they want Fury - Usyk winner to fight AJ - Ngannou winner.
IBF also made it clear: Fury -Usyk winner must fight Hrgovic, or they will strip him.
Will IBF stick to their rules or bend over for Saudis?
What is Ngannou knocks Joshua out? Will WBA/IBF/WBO allow him to fight for their belts? Will they all bend over for Saudis?
I can`t wait.
They've done it. That's what this is.
The Saudis didn't ask for the PGA to get on board. They started off by hosting events under their banner and then made the call to go head to head with them as LIV and took some of their headline names. The PGA eventually had to accept it couldn't ignore them anymore. The Saudis never folded - the PGA folded.
The biggest names at heavyweight have all fought (or will fight) in Saudi through a period of about 6 months, sanctioned by the orgs. Now they're announcing their own title which exists independently of any existing organisational title. They're following the same model as LIV.
From a fan perspective the big difference between this and the WBC is that the Saudis have made the fights that the WBC couldn't or wouldn't. Same as all the other orgs.
Ok
Wasn’t aware of that meaning the boxing
Just thought it was like when Canelo fought and the WBC made a belt for the fugh of it
That’s all it is , just another belt kind of like wbc does whenever something special, of course according to them , kind of belt
Now if the Saudis were to start their own league like they did in golf with Liv ……

Very tacky looking belt
this concept really needs the ABC org’s buy in to make this work
otherwise it’s just another belt on top of the garbage heap

If Fury (for example) beats Usyk and then drops the org belts, which fight would you give more credence?
Ajagba v Andersen for an existing org's strap; or
Joshua v Fury for the 'Undisputed' belt
Fury, Usyk, Joshua, Ngannou, Wilder, Sanchez, Kabayel, Parker, Zhang, Hrgovic, Dubois... they're all on the Saudi payroll. There isn't much left!
Do they need the orgs if they've got the fighters and promoters?
You have the point, but we are talking about one division only. Ok, two divisions, if we include 175.

They can't force anyone, but every man has his price.
Fury, Joshua and Usyk have .more money us two have seen in our lifes.
Saudis can' t really buy them

....which means there's still a choice. The fact that there was a bunch of HWs on "Day of Reckoning" proves that the Saudis understand the necessity to keep some semblance of integrity to the sport. Fury opened this door, so I can't fault AJ (who doesn't have a title like Fury) too much for accepting the same opportunity. Hopefully AJ cleans up the mess Fury created. The Saudis need to get Zhang involved.
You're not going to get this without some kind of payoff.
100% we'll see 'events'. Whatever puts the World's eyes on Saudi Arabia.
They've already said that the Joshua v Ngannou winner will fight the Usyk v Fury winner. No rankings, no qualifiers... just whatever the wishes of His Excellence are. And his wishes are to make the fights that make headlines.
Most of the time that will probably be great - but not everything popular is credible. Starbucks is the most popular cafe in the world. McDonalds is the most popular restaurant in the world. Yet they serve the worst coffee and the worst food respectively. The great unwashed like shiny things even if they're ****.
How far I will he push things is my point
Im sorry to me saying that a guy who could be 1-1 is fighting for heavyweight supremacy is fughin disgusting
Think of all the guys who gave a lifetime to get there
Just not right and all this just cause he’s flexing his power
Next thing he’s gonna want middleweight to fight for heavyweight or some chit and he’ll get it done cause the power he’s wielding
I’m all for the best boxing the best
What worries me is them demanding chit because in all reality , nothing’s free
If they’re just in it cause they enjoy it and this is what they wanna do with there cash , I’m all for it but I find it hard to believe they won’t try to push for wtv they want whether it being right or wrong
For example , the mma guy getting a shot at heavyweight championship without having to go through the hoops like everyone before him
Chit like that make me worried

Each division should have 1 belt. Bivol - Beterbiev winner will be a true world champ. Usyk -Fury winner will be a true world champ.
And please stop counting how many "world champs" somebody beat.

I'm not that comfortable with it being the Saudis taking over... but it does have to be someone. And they're the only guys really trying to do it.
We've talked on here before about the depth of pockets needed to take over boxing. They're the first viable proponent.

'His Excellency' seems to think everyone will do what he wants, or pays for.
Maybe now everyone can understand the thread I started , his excellency flexing his power
Toffee seems to understand what I meant and seems to be getting my feeling that we need to bow to his excellency cause of his cash
Toffee , now do you get me and unfortunately I don’t know how to retrieve my post of his excellency flexing his power

With how much thoughtfulness & time they've spent on these recent few cards I don't expect this Undisputed belt to look as lame as it did in the presser. It'd be the first big misstep they've made if that actually turns out to be the belt.
To be honest, it's in a similar style to the UFC belts. That might well be the aim.

Mind you, the IBF didn't play ball with Opetaia and the Day of Reckoning fight.
Maybe Hearn and others are foreshadowing the Undisputed Belt actually being up for grabs. Undisputed effectively becoming lineal. While I don't mind someone rendering the orgs obsolete, I don't particularly want it to be Saudi Arabia.
