Beterbiev is one of the most overrated champs of the last 5 years. Getting completely outboxed by Gvozdyk before the stoppage , a relatively difficult fight against Browne, getting outboxed against Yarde in many portions of that fight.
If he squashes Bivol, I'll admit that I was wrong, TBH
I've been to Montreal a few times and have been amazed by it (sights and sins). This was two decades ago so it's definitely time to return for a visit.
Gatti's fights in AC were like no other. Saw him fight there against Leija, Dorin and Ward. I will never forget the deafening roar of the crowd when ACDC's Thunder started playing...
I saw him fight May
Fight week was insane
Promoters son sat next to us
And yes , total insanity the minute the blasts went off to Thunderstruck
Funny enough , we had some hardcore og’d from Philly sitting next to us with their girls
When they heard the shots go off , they all dropped to the ground lmao
A real big boy next to me , the og couldn’t get off the ground , had to give him a hand
Montréal is known as sin city
I’ll leave it at that
I had the pleasure of attending a fight in AC and fight week was fughin phenomenal
Convention Hall I think it’s called , great place to see a fight
Gatti town

Afi23, how was the atmosphere at the fight? I grew up attending fights in Atlantic City but I've always wanted to go to a fight in Quebec. I remember watching fights like Ouillet/Hilton on ESPN and thinking that I'd love to go up and watch a fight up there...the Canadian crowds and atmosphere just seem so electric.

Ten thousand people, the basically "closed" the back half of the arena (Videotron Center). Crowd was warmed up by the Maloney fight and the fireworks provided by the Mbilli. Placed went into a frenzy by the time Artur got into the ring. But just like a "prime GGG" fight there was this underlying tension during the fight because at any moment you know that Artur might landing something big that completely changes the complexion of the fight. Smith was doing ok to good until he wasn't!
Plus the whole province had not enjoyed a "big/meaningful fight" in a minute. We haven't had big fights since the heydays of Bute/Pascal/Adonis. As a boxing junky, yes we get to see the likes of Hearn, Arum, the whole Top Rank/ESPN on TV on a regular basis but having them seated in your arena in your city just hits different to be honest.
P.-S.: one last thing, that TR ring girl (the black girl) truly has a big fat round ass in person, delightful!
I’d tap that

His jab is like a pile driver, it's jolting and it snaps the head back and completely discombobulates the opponent. He did it against Cloud, Yarde, Campillo, Browne, and Smith last night. Instead of knuckles up he has his hand sideways like he is driving. Every time he does it, he either changes the complexion of the fight, drops or stops a guy

100% sure I haven't seen another fighter punch the jab that way.
the angle he throws that piston jab makes it significantly easier to penetrate a high guard. I don't know why it's not done more.
Exactly! I was in attendance yesterday in Quebec. That power different and it seems so effortless, he never seems to be loading up on his punches.

I attended Jean Pascal's last fight in Lacr sc th heeedfreee but yesterday was another level. Seeing up close SMW and LW landing flush is something else.
Even seeing "little guys" such as Maloney up close gives you a brand new perspective on what boxers endure in this ring.
I was there for the beating Pascal took
I thought the German was gonna get robbed but they did the right thing
I hear you brother
For a long time now, I've suspected Beterbiev would beat Kovalev down and KO him. Kovalev had a very good jab and was a very good fighter but he doesn't have the variety and trickiness of Beterbiev...Kovalev was also not as tough, he didn't have the volume , the fast feet and intelligence of Beterbiev. I think Beterbiev is all around a technically better fighter. I'm more impressed by the boxing acumen of Beterbiev than his power.
Born and raised in MTL so I'm used to the weather but that wind was blowing hard especially during the daytime yesterday in Quebec city.
Spend the day ice fishing, then go to the fights and then after party. Sounds like major league fun to me.
I stated this last night that I think Mbilli was just trying to headhunt for the exposure
It only made him look bad imo
He usuall6 doesn’t fight that way
Check out the fight vs Gongora
So first time lol
You popped your cherry
His punches sound like a bat hitting a carcass
Sick chit that you’d only believe if you saw it and I never this case heard it , for yourself

First time. It was crazy to see the difference between a Mbilli type of pressure fighter and a Beterbiev type of pressure fighter.
I support the local guy but Mbilli gets hurt against the upper echelon at 168lbs. He loads up way too much and I don't think said upper echelon would be fazed by his punching power.

Your first Beterbiev fight or you’ve seen him before ?

Porter also beat Usyk in the amateurs so does that mean he can still do it in the pros?
Amtuers mean squat.
Your right
Just ask Gvodzyk
Have you ever seen the Porter vs Usyk fight ?
Who does Regge Boy think won ?

I've been to a lot of fights live, I've seen some incredibly heavy handed fighters and heard their punches (including heavyweights) and I've never heard anything like the sound Beterbiev's punches make when they land.
Hell yes, everything Beterbiev lands hurts his opponent. Not every punch is a KO shot but all have power. A fighter like that is going to be tough to beat.
