I originally said Bud. He still has my vote. but I’d like to know who you think is FOTY…!!!

Haney
Inoue
Bud
Benavidez
Inoue wins are much better than Crawford's ONE win. It's much more difficult beating multiple top level opponents than one partially shot opponent. Spence used to be a good fighter but he hasn't looked good recently and he's been out of the ring for a long time. Nobody should be given Fighter of The Year award for just ONE win. That's ridiculous! Its always an excuse, lmao. Spence was shot. Nobody should be given FOTY for 2 fights either if that’s the case.
How big were the odds? Since you keep calling bud (who I was rooting for) an underdog when the odds were like 2 to 1
Parker upsetting windmill was much bigger. People actually gave bud a chanceYou can look up the odds, and we’re talking FOTY. Parker and Wilder aren’t in that discussion. Bud might have not been underestimated by me and you, but to a lot of other people he was.

How is Benavidez even up for consideration by many around here? He beat a Canelo leftover and an undersized quitter that had never fought a real champion and was never anything at 168.
Monster Inoue should be FOTY or even Haney has a good argument despite the Lomachenko decision.
Out of the guys who are nominated, none of them were underdogs like Bud. While the other guys beat good fighters, they weren’t underdogs. People really thought that Spence would whoop Buds ass and have since changed their opinions on how good Spence is instead of bigging up Bud on his master class. In a way they’ve discredited h Buds monster win because of his so called weak chin and so called being easy to hit and “the now famous “Spence was overrated” argument when none of that was true. I told you all this before the fight but you were so hell bent on seeing Bud beat that you lost money lmao. But I’ve seen this happen for over 40+ years. Opinions change like the weather.
Inoue is for casual, dumb fanboys who get impressed easily as he fought no-names and low quality fighters to be undisputed. He is the weakest name in the list. Crawford's win was more impressive as he made one of the top fighter in the pound for pound list look like an amateur by shutting down and countering everything spence threw. Devin haney beat the matrix loma and dominated a very good name, regis. Benavidez also did well, dominating good names like plant and andrade.
I'm less impressed than some with wins over Spence and Andrade. Andrade still has zero wins over a champion of any sort, and only one fight against a former champ, which he lost. Beating him doesn't really do much for me. Plant is a good win in my book, since I think well of his skillset, but didn't think Benavidez was that impressive in that fight. I would put Bam Rodriguez over Benavidez personally.
As for Spence, people value that win because they claim he was P4P, but I've never agreed with that. He's got 3 wins over people who were actually active champions. The rest of his big wins were against former champions moving up in weight, and all his accomplishments have been in one division. I don't put Tank Davis in my P4P, and don't think he belongs until at minimum he fights a champion in his own division on even terms without rehydration clauses and other BS.
I respect Bud for absolutely dominating him, and don't hold the fact that he only fought once in the year against him because that's the fault of rematch clause BS. But I consider him a top divisional fighter at his own weight class, and he's got zero bonafides outside of that, nor is his skillset that impressive. Heck, Sunny Edwards had almost as many title defenses in one weight class, and was the #1 in said weight class. He's not P4P.
Haney I thought lost his fight against Loma, and was not impressed with Prograis, who wasn't in good form anyways before that fight.
Josh Taylor also had lost a lot of luster, having sucked against Catterall and dropping so many belts ostensibly to fight the rematch, only to duck him when it came down to it. Props to Teo for that win, which I thought was a virtuoso performance, but it's still one fight, and IMO similar to Bud's victory over Spence, but not as good of a win in terms of manner of win or quality.
Honorable mention to Ngannou, who SHOULD have gotten Upset of the Year IMO, and really exposed Tyson Fury.
#1 INOUE - for not only moving up, but beating #1 & #2 in dominating fashion.
I think it's fair to say Fulton was possibly fringe P4P at the time.
#2 crawford - close, but i feel Spence was ranked way too high.
he was maybe a fringe P4P guy, but not top 5.
Naoya Inoue and it's not close.
4 belt champion in two divisions within the same year.
That beats out Crawford's avoid the hard work, beat one guy for every belt blueprint.
What do you mean “avoid the hard work,”…!!!??
Dec last year.
Teo only fought once this year but put on a great performance over the #1 guy at 140. Thats a quality W in quality form & puts him in honorable mention foty territory imo.
Thought it was this year.
Fair enough, he's as worthy as Haney (Honourable mention, not up there with Inoue, Bud or David B)
Feels like a soft year & wide open for some alternative takes to me.
Bud only had 1 fight, but its for undisputed & over a future HOF guy.
Monster is likely to be penalized by some for being a lil guy, but a lot of ppl knew Fulton so that might help him be ppl's pick.
Devin beat a HOFer & the a top 2 guy in his 2nd division.
David B was looking nasty as the #2 guy at 168 vs two top ten ex belt guys.
I think you might even be able to argue 1 fight Teo is in the discussion with that Josh W.
Mostly it feels like it should be Bud vs Monster for #1, but I wouldn't be shocked if some media/folks got one of the other 3.
Was the Teo fight with Martin this year or last year? Because I def thought he lost that...
Naoya Inoue and it's not close.
4 belt champion in two divisions within the same year.
That beats out Crawford's avoid the hard work, beat one guy for every belt blueprint.
inoue because 2x undisputed is just nuts... or benevidez but they all had great years Devin was impressive, bud only fought once but the azz whoopin he gave puts him up there as well
