Haney vs Matias

I understand why a lot of fans would pick Haney in this fight ...I like Haney , but I am on that Subriel train and not hopping off he beats Haney .A lot of fans underestimating what Matias actually does in that ring .Don't see this fight happening , Haney had his chance to call him out after looking phenomenal last night and he chose not to .

Well so far, he turned down Teofimo Lopez for February 2024 due to a supposed wrist injury. Matias people confirmed an offer was sent. Let’s hope he isn’t another Demetrius Andrade. He was talking about how he'd signed for the fight, just wants it in March, last I heard? I'd like to see Teo v Matías, although Teo is crazy so you can never tell when he's going to "retire" because he's not "appreciated enough". Teo is like a mini Tyson Fury IMO.

Why should he?He would get 3x more fighting Tank or Teo Fair point. Still, Matias is a world champion at 140 and unifying against him should be an option.

Same as I said about Prograis very easy fight for Haney, its going to take Shakur or Davis to beat Haney, no slow footed fighter will touch him. Shakur will not beat Haney at 140. He would beat him if the fight was a 135though

Yes, I imagine that fighting Subriel Matias next is not high on his list of priorities right now. Same for a lot of other fighters in the vicinity of 140 lbs. He’s not much of a boogeyman. He already has Teofimo offering him a fight. Easy win.

I really don’t see anything special in Matias. I saw Teofimo Lopez wanted to fight him and honestly Teo destroys him. He’s going to have to show me more against better fighters for me to be hyped about him.

I wouldn't generally classify you as that type of poster but it fits the familiar pattern of forumites hyping up punchers beyond justification. A night in the ring with Subriel Matias right now is not a pleasant proposition for anyone. It just is what it is.

I think people over analyse things like this. Do you really think he's sitting there terrified of mentioning one particular boxer's name? He probably just didn't think of it in the moment. When you want to face someone next you call them out after a fight.

Well with that being said... No credit to Haney for beating a bum, right? No and neither would anyone else including the few that are hyping him.

I would love to see it, Matias has all the punches in the book, endless tank, an iron chin, can actually cut off the ring really well and most importantly is in his prime. I'm a sucker for his style so probably a bit biased but if he stays in this form I reckon he could get to Haney, fight won't happen but, no talk from Bill about going undisputed x 2.
