For years him and his fans banged on about how avoided he was despite him declining fights against Korobov, Charlo, Alimkhanuly, even Zach Parker most recently.
Instead he fought the likes of Katundowka, Keeler, Quigley, Akavov etc. There was the odd fringe top 10 guy like Vanes, Williams or Sulecki but even those guys were clearly levels below who he should have been fighting.
Yet we were told how skilled Andrade was, how he was so elusive, sharp, accurate, slippery, yet the moment he stepped up, we saw absolutely none of those attributes.
I thought he won one round, the second. Benavidez looked the sharper fighter, he found him easy to hit and he essentially just beat the sh** out of him for 6 rounds until Andrade quit on his stool.
This guy was never an elite fighter.
He looked good and passed the eye test but he never stepped it up and challenged himself or made himself the man to beat at a certain weight.
Regardless good fighters loose when they continue to go up in weight and challenge the top fighters.
He chose to fight Culcay instead of Lara because he said Lara was too boring.
Lara pulled out of that fight

The Charlos didn't want it with him for years.
The first time they could've fought in 2014 was the ONLY time Andrade backed out of a big fight.
When was he supposed to fight Lara?
And Janibek didn't even become champ at 160 until Andrade was moving up to 168.
Fact is, Canelo ducked him in 2 weight classes, GGG & both of the Charlos ducked him too in classes they were all champions in.
Even Eddie Hearn said he was the "most ducked fighter he'd ever seen"

Stop making excuses for Andrade. He could have fought Lara, Janibek, Charlo, etc but instead chose to fight Euro level guys for vacant belts and then defend them against even lower level guys. His record is a farce and he lost his only step up fight in humiliating fashion.
Do you know why Benavidez is in line to fight Canelo? Because he beat guys like Plant, Lemieux, Dirrell, and Andrade first. Andrade barely handled guys like Williams, Sulecki, Martirosyan, and Culcay.

He has an awkward fighting style, not a very fan friendly style, and he was avoided by Canelo and Charlo at 154 and 160. Not sure how much of that was him pricing himself out, though we know Charlo has a track record of avoiding damn near everyone. He was never able to headline a big venue outside of Providence. With age and added weight he couldn't carry the speed and reflexes above 160.
so you acknowledge that he was NOT elite, and everyone knows he cant break an egg, yet you think he had a good shot to actually BEAT Canelo or GGG, 2 ELITE ATG fighters who can crack for real??
Go home Dunn, you're drunk.
No, I’m not.
I think we will never know. He could be another Jermain Taylor v Bhop.
I also think if Andrade was so easy to beat, DAZN would’ve attempted to unify the division.
If nothing else it would give them a marketable unification fight for one of their 2 big names.
We will never know. The Benavidez fight is way after the fact.
Andrade isn’t elite, we agree. I just think he got shafted.

Yes.
People who hated Canelo, GGG, and/or Charlo started hyping him so they could say whichever fighter they hated was ducking him. Just the usual NSB fangirl nonsense.
But just as many people, myself included, have been calling it out for years - dude's best win was eeking out an SD against VANES MARTIROSYAN at 154.
The first time he was going to have to face someone dangerous, he vacated his ****in' belt.
Andrade was living on hype Eddie Hearn's welfare checks, just like Tevin Farmer. Total pretender.
I'm not the biggest Farmer fan but his resume is still a lot better than Andrade's.
Farmer vs world titlists:
L vs Jose Pedraza TKO 8 (future 2 division world titlist)
W vs Gamaliel Diaz UD 10 (former world titlist)
ND vs Kenichi Ogawa SD 12 (originally a loss for Tevin, but Ogawa popped for PEDs)
W vs Billy Dib UD 12 (former world titlst)
L vs Jojo Diaz UD 12 (took Farmer's title)
Diaz and Dib were past their primes when Farmer beat them and he lost his other step-up fights but at least he fought some actual competition. And a lot of people thought he got robbed against Ogawa anyway. Andrade's first fight against a future/current/former titlist was Benavidez.
I haven't seen much of Andrade but what I saw, he wasn't impressive. Perhaps he has aged and not what he used to be however Benavidez really beat him up and didn't look to struggle much in doing it. I think we can forget about Andrade and move on to the next.

No, he didn't get a fight until he was 35 years old and in his 3rd weight class.
None of those people wanted to fight him at 154 or 160, so now they're rejoicing that he's not as quick as he was 5 years ago.
If anything, he's just another victim of modern boxing politics
Thank God, Terence Crawford beat the odds
Dude, who is the chick in your signature GIF?
Andrade is good. Not as good as his ego has suggested, but at the right weight, good. I just wish we could have known how good; he fought no one. Fighting Benavidez doesn't really answer whether or not he is a fraud because he's got so many disadvantages; it would have been an upset otherwise.
Sadly for Andrade, he just mismanaged his career. Point blank. At 35, he'll be a gatekeeper at best in the SMW division. His best bet is to go back to 160 where he might have some success.

I never cared for Andrade but he has a REAL DEAL pedigree in the amateurs and went to the Olympics unlike 98% of todays fighters.
He did meet and beat Thurman and Trout but lost to Porter & Lara in the amateurs, so he’s definitely a good fighter.

This is not true. Canelo and Ggg absolutely avoided him and dazn allowed it to happen.
Dazn had the ability to unify the division and chose not to because of the very real possibility Andrade beats both.
I get it- he wasn’t fan friendly, had no support, and dazn was in the business to get subscribers.
I guess we will never know.
Good thing HBO did the mw tourney or Bhop woulda been Andrade.
Andrade couldn't even convincingly beat a old Vanes and went life and death with him. Compared to what GGG did and take Vanes out in 2. He not a bum but hes not some boogie man either. he ducked his share of fights. Janibek the lastest one.
I think it's an overreaction. David Benavidez has been looking unstoppable for 5 years now. He looks even more dangerous when he's focused. David leaves himself open at times, but for fighters who don't have the power to hurt him, like Andrade...ooof. Wrong fight. Andrade took a huge risk, and got destroyed. He's a MW. We don't know how he measures up against other elite MWs - because as you said, we haven't seen him against them. Maybe we never will.
We will never know. The Benavidez fight is way after the fact.
Andrade isn’t elite, we agree. I just think he got shafted.
No, he didn't get shafted.
You don't get to fight the top guys in all of boxing just because you want to. You have to earn that fight by beating credible contenders. And that's something Andrade has literally never done.
Benavidez had to beat Dirrell, Plant, Lemieux, and now Andrade before Canelo is even considering fighting him. Former world titlists that your average boxing fan has actually heard of.
There's levels to boxing. You don't just go from fighting Euro level guys to fighting top 3 P4P guys like GGG or Canelo when they were at 160.
