Any news about the status of this rematch? Sick of seeing articles about the Crawford/Canelo obsession, yet nothing about the rematch.
Especially when Crawford and Spence are into one fight per year status, therefore sense of urgency is not even there for these two. Can these media people at least tone down the Canelo/Crawford obsession until the rematch is done? Not to mention Crawford if he wins will have to take another long vacation after the rematch.
According to one idiot in this forum the fight should happen this year. Even got mad as hell with my previous post.
Guess his contract that states the rematch must taken place in 2023 means nothing??? You don't even have a clue do you? So why you here? Making up stories that suit your whims. Go back to sleep there enough BS in forum already with out your lame option. You really believed he can set a date that suits him (chuckle)
If Mayweather - Pacquiao could be made without a rematch clause, any fight can be.
That was then, this is now. Nowadays, everyone drops in a rematch clause. Besides, there may have been a rematch in the contract if Pacquiao won. I'm not sure, but that is another factor. Sometimes, only 1 guy gets honored the rematch if he loses. That's some BS.
Supposedly the weight has already been agreed upon according to the latest interview with Derrick James so I'm guessing it's going to be at 154.
But with Showtime now out of the picture, the fight is up in the air until another network or platform picks it up.
They should do a bidding participated in by DAZN, ESPN, BLK, etc. The highest bidder takes the fight.

There's been many fights where loser of first wins the rematch. AJ-Ruiz Jr.. Lewis-Rahman.. Eubank-Smith.. I think broadcasters are still interested but how much they're willing to pay is the problem. Probably the money is much lower than the first fight. Reports said they made around $20 million each, but the value of the rematch is more like $4m for Bud and $1m for Spence. So the issue is whether they're willing to fight each other for a much lower purse. Unless they can get Saudi to pay more.
Totally up to them Crawford and Spence whether they'll accept it's not as big as the first fight, thus should take whatever is offered on the table.
Point is it won't be seen as big as the first fight. The motivation for promoters and broadcasters is cut in half or less.

Spence fight won't happen, taken too much out of him, and who's going to pay for it ? No demand. I think the Boots fight could happen if Boots actually gets off his arse and actually gets a couple of great wins next year, Tszyu fight as well, stadium fight in Australia where Crawfish can make $10 million plus or in Vegas if Tszyu keeps knocking over contenders in US. Charlo is done. Just hope Crawford actually fights early to mid next year.
During one of the Bud vs Spence pressers, Espinoza said that if both fighters are determined to fight each other, then there's no stopping it from happening. It was only after Bud and Spence spoke personally on the phone, then the fight got made. So it seems more likely that Espinoza and Haymon prevented that fight from happening for years, they didn't play any part in facilitating it.

The first fight barely made it
Next time there will be no Showtime anymore, no Espinoza to serve as the middle guy. So one can't help but wonder who or which promoter would step up and work on the rematch.

Crawford vs Tim in Australia if he is game. And I'm sure they got more than 10 million Charlo money for him. Mega stadium fight and I'm Crawford can bring over American judges to eliminate any funny business.
Tired of hearing the Ennis nonsense. Hell with him and his dad. Ortiz Jr will be waiting for them at 154
Ennis is a big welterweight. He's not getting any younger, so he'll move up eventually. And to me, 154 is the more active division currently and they'll never run out fights to make. The welterweight is dormant. The activity is abysmal.

My guess is it'll happen next fight. It's contractually secure already, all on paper. Might be the only chance Spence gets to fight Bud again so why would he throw out the contract? I wonder if it'll be on the undercard of one of the Saudi heavyweight shows next year. Was so one-sided it doesn't quite warrant being a main event but in Saudi they'll still get paid well even as co-main. And Crawford's a star in the boxing world now so I'm sure Saudi's want to see him fight there.

Errol Spence is damaged goods and is in danger of serious harm if he continues to fight. Prime Spence died in the car wreck, it is what it is. Sick how the same people encouraging him to carry on fighting will be the same ones crying in a couple of years when he is in a vegetative state.
