Fury got out of the rematch with Klitschko by pretending he had mental health issues. The real reason was that during the camp for the Klitschko rematch, Fury failed a drug test for cocaine in Sept 2016. That was the second drug test he failed within 2 years. 2015 he popped dirty for steroid nandrolone, only months before the first Klitschko fight. In fact, he should have been banned that year, and the Klitschko fight should have never happened. So with the second drug fail the year after, Fury had to vacate his titles else he would have got stripped of his titles for popping dirty. That's when he invented the "mental health" excuse.
Now Fury is tied to a 2-fight deal with Usyk but after his defeat to Ngannou, he still has that old "mental health" or "retirement" trick up his sleeve which could save him from going through with the Usyk fight. But, this time the stakes are even higher with the amount of money they're set to get paid.
So.. Do you think Fury goes through with the Usyk fight, or he gets out of it somehow?
And if Fury does bail out at the last moment, say two weeks before the fight, should Usyk have a decent backup opponent ready to take Fury's place?
I'm not sure of the rules, but at some point if Fury keeps avoiding the Usyk fight they need to strip him.
I don't want it to happen... but I'd rather see Usyk fight the next highest ranked guy for the vacant belts if there's no other option.
I have no idea if a real contract was signed, it seems like it was.... it probably has a rematch clause. so he would be stuck with usyk for 2 fights. he can make a lot of money fighting francis nagaooo again, basically even more than an usyk fight for less work.
I suspect he will play some games to make usyk frustrated and maybe drop the contract? then he is free to fight his rematch with the cage fighter for 50 million
i would not be surprised but would be disappointed i think, fury needs to make the usyk fight happen, there has been enough BS with him already, he was the guy who signed for ngannou when he should have made usyk first i would say, hes a dosser & he should call himself that until he makes the undisputed fight quick, he actually deserves usyk making a deal out of the dec date as he made a deal about it to usyk just recently, karma, now shutup and recover and make the fight no issues
I will be surprised if this fight happens before both of them have actual official losses on their records. We already fucked up AJ/Wilder and AJ/Fury with overmarination so might as well go for the treble and fuck this up too. It already is a bit worse off now after both guys controversial last fights.

Fight was originally supposed to be in the July but Fury pulled out with an ankle injury a couple of weeks prior.
Then the old nandrolone test came out.
Then he tested positive for cocaine.
Then he withdrew due to depression.
We'll see where this Usyk deal goes. But the second he reneged on the agreed December date, the cynic in me says he's going to miss the next date too.
Usyk should be making backup plans.
If the fight doesn't go ahead on the 23rd December I will become very sceptical that it will happen at all. We could get into an indefinite postponement death spiral.
The fight was never happening on Dec 23. Didn't Usyk already say he had an injury when he took that body shot from DDD? Now, he is injury-free after the Fury performance. Both of these dudes are full of ____! Just have DDD vs Ngannou. Boxing fans have real bad memories.
I can see the date being pushed again for whatever reason, and Usyk having to fight Hrgovic, then Fury demanding Usyk fight him 6 weeks later because "he's in charge"

Dec 23rd is already off. They're saying it's Feb 2024 now.
