Tyson Fury: I Just Sometimes Look In The Mirror And Think I’m An Absolute Genius
Hahahaha, yeah Fury looked really smart getting dropped and losing to a debutant mma fighter
Fury: I will go toe to toe
He was holding more then punching and even a picture perfect elbow couldn’t turn the tide
Fury: I am the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division
Hahahaha, Francis was eating those power puff punches like organic pop corn, and left the fight without a mark on his face while Fury went to the emergency room
Humble pie never tasted so good,
Fury Wilder was a pretty bad choice for Wilder now don't you think. Ali Frazier 3, bad for both but Ali though Joe was shot. Holyfield Tyson after Tyson saw the chez fight
Top contenders when there's nothing else available is far from a cherry pick
A cherry pick is an irrelevant fight against a mismatched opponant
Like Tank vs Rollie?
There has been worse cherry picks that actually ended up winning, luckily for fury he escaped with a victory otherwise i would agreee
Pac cherrypicking Horn went sideways
Did Mike Tyson cherrypick Buster ?
Same question for Wlad vs Bruster and Ali vs Wepner (even though Ali won)
We know Morrison picked Bentt
While Flubber exposed himself this time, I don't think lightening would strike twice if they have a rematch
Flubber will just fight dirtier.
But crucially, not losing.
We'll see.
It's fundamentally changed the heavyweight landscape regardless of official result.
But yes, Fury will say he won and that's all that matters.
A great cherry picker and his fans wouldn't want it any other way
"Del Bum will always be a dangerous fighter. Makes perfect sense to fight him a 3rd, even a 5th time just to make sure:)."
i dont know how any boxing fan can enjoy this moment
I understand your sentiment, but boxing is the theater of the unexpected, and that’s why most people watch
I haven’t posted a thread in years, but this is an aftermath of a big fight very similar to the last Pac Márquez fight that ended in a knockout
So unexpected and shocking that something has to be said
The only thing bad for the sport of boxing, is people not being interested
And one last thing, people forget that Fury himself downplayed boxing by saying WWE wrestling was harder than boxing, like he was above the sport that made him rich and famous
I myself am ecstatic that he was embarrassed, he has only himself to blame
You can tell from the first 2 seconds that Fury thought it would be easy.
In fact he thought he would knock Ngannou out within 2 seconds...
Then he missed... got countered the next time he tried, went down - and his whole mentality changed.
Exactly
Zhang vs Joyce was the worst cherry pick gone wrong.
Joyce had to fought him twice and got bashed twice. 2nd time in a KO of the year that will live forever in highlight reeels

Not really a good example given how Mayweather dropped rounds, and had McGregor gassing to thank for the KO.
The story has it that Mayweather bet a lot of money on the round he would stop McGregor, that’s why he carried him and came out to finish him when he did
Fury wasn’t trying to carry Francis, like he more then likely thought he could, he was trying not to get knocked out
So yes it is the exact same idea behind this fight, Fury thought is was going to be easy money just like Mayweather vs McGregor
And that is also why Fury was touting himself as a genius, for making the easy money fight possible
He won the battle but lost the war, he got beat up and dropped on the way to the bank
This was supposed to be an easy money exhibition fight, along the exact same lines as Mayweather vs McGregor
I don’t think anyone associated with the Fury camp is at all pleased with the outcome of that fight
Fury was thoroughly embarrassed

I think everyone saw that as a good fight, not a cherry pick.
In terms of genuine cherry picks you've got Buster Douglas for Mike Tyson. And Michael Bentt for Tommy Morrison. Both were easy tune ups with big paydays signed up.
I don't think either compare to choosing to fight a 37 year old debutant though. And getting thoroughly embarrassed.
But crucially, not losing.

Yeh, Francis is a winner in a sense he came out of this fight looking good. It was always going to be uphill battle for fury if he didn't win easy and spectacular. But I knew it wasn't going to be easy
Ok, how about this ... Deontay wanted to fight the absolute best in the HW division, so when he saw Fury looking sensational in his comeback fights against Seferi and Pianetta he decided to sign a 2 fight deal with Tyson instead of unifying with AJ.
Is that better for you?
- - Priceless!
It didn't quite go wrong, fury won.

I relished in that moment also, but Bivol is an actual boxer, and a damn good one at that
I don’t believe I have ever seen something backfiring as bad as this
It’s really quite amazing
Definitely agree about Bivol
Something I yelled about from the day the fight was announced
I don’t think highly of Fury , so no surprise there
It was just a matter of time
