In the 90s you had boxers take tough fights often. You had Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis and then Mercer, Moorer, Golata etc. plus the veterans Foreman and Holmes in the mix.
I was watching a video from Rummy's Corner going through the big heavyweight fights of the 90s and it is depressing that it can't happen these days.
They would fight each other often and it seemed like a loss wasn't as big of a deal.
These days top ranked Heavyweights are so tentative about taking dangerous fights.
Network and promotional politics. Most of those guys were promoted by Arum or King and fought on HBO or Showtime.
Nowadays you have Fury with Warren/Arum and TNT/ESPN, Wilder with Haymon and Showtime and formerly FOX, Joshua with Hearn and DAZN, Usyk is sort of a free agent, it just creates so many obstacles as none of these f***ers will work together.
Fury-Wilder is the only time it’s really happened recently when ESPN and FOX worked together with Arum/PBC co-promoting.
