Mayweather wants to get boxing back in check and squash what he believes is a growing trend of fighters demanding more money than a fight is worth.
"I took chances but I want these fighters to stop complaining about money. These fighters keep coming to me, keep coming to Al Haymon - 'Al we want this, we want that.' I'll tell Al, I will go on record and tell Al - we're paying these fighters too much. These fighters are getting paid too much. Listen, go out there and kick ass, do what you're supposed to do and the paydays will come," Mayweather told a group of reporters after his company staged a show in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

he brings in the big money that's why he is paid the big money.
.
if the fights were only as exciting as the promotion.....
....and this isn't about your boy as it is about the fighters in the game now getting their respect...
.....as long as they are fighting hard for the $, I don't have a problem with them asking for what they feel they are worth....
That's really the bottom line why all these broadcasters are exiting boxing. Boxers are demanding more money than a fight is worth.
That's why most fights are going to the PPV route. Broadcasters can't just keep on losing money overpaying fighters for fights that are not worth much.

Mayweather in his younger years did come up the ranks fighting tuff and EARNED that money but about the time he changed his name to “money”.
Those young guys learned from him to protect that “0” by fighting “soft” THEIR WHOLE CAREERS and if you can do so.
No wonder all the major US networks have left boxing. Even then boxers are still unfazed "demanding more money than the fight is worth." Crawford, for instance, is still obviously not satisfied with what he got from the Spence fight and took it on Dela Hoya. Poor Oscar.
I wonder how much Crawford would want in the Spence rematch, let alone the Canelo fight, which the media has been obsessing about.
Crawford would definitely insist on full transparency in the rematch from the popcorn concessions down to the PPV numbers.
When you see this from this guy, you know an elaborate excuse is forthcoming
So now the dude most overpaid for fighting c fighters and shopworn name guys, has an issue with fighters who are doing the same
Only elaborate to a pea brain as yourself, youre obviously too stupid to realise he brings in the big money that's why he is paid the big money.
Oh so elaborate lol.
Says the guy that got 200 millions for fighting UFC guy. F.uck of Floyd.
4.3 million domestic PPV buys.
Floyd wasn't gifted that fight. He earned it with his skills, personality and business savvy. Add McGregor into the mix and it was pure genius from a business standpoint.
Translation: no boxer is allowed to earn more money than me because it will impact my fragile ego.
The post is that a lot of these guys want top pay, but aren't draws to earn what they're demanding. This is precisely why the fights we want to see do not materialize. It's precisely why Bud wasted so much time with Top Rank and why it fell apart with Bob in the end.
Everyone wants to be Canelo or Floyd level, but no one wants to put in the work.
They KEY to remember here is this:
"Mayweather wants to get boxing back in check and squash what he believes is a

That's really the bottom line why all these broadcasters are exiting boxing. Boxers are demanding more money than a fight is worth.
Yet they still want huge paychecks in the midst of Showtime exiting boxing.

the difference with Floyd is .
When you see this from this guy, you know an elaborate excuse is forthcoming

hes right in some cases and wrong in some cases. some fights like wilder-helenius lose tons of money. wilder made 20 million but the live gate was 1.5 million and the ppv revenue was about 2.5 million for pbc. thats a huge loss but wilder wont fight unless you pay him huge money, and the only way he can make huge money is if he fights a big name/a top guy. thats why hes been sidelined for so long. pbc doesnt want to lose millions which will happen if he fights a bum, but wilder doesnt want to fight anyone good so its a stale mate. the same thing happened with ward and hbo. hbo wanted good opponents, ward said no i want to figth dmitri sartision and other bums, stale mate. its hard to come back to the figther and say hey you need to take a pay cut, but thats the truth. on the other hand when fighters are super popular they deserve even more money but often get screwed
I'd be very very surprised if PBC negotiates with Crawford for the Spence rematch. They never wanted the first fight in the first place, let alone after seeing a very lopsided outcome. It just sounds crazy to do it again, not to mention going through the arduous process and very time-consuming negotiations. Yeah, it's not expected to be smooth.
Now that it's confirmed Showtime is exiting boxing, it's still not clear whether the rematch is happening or not.
Says the guy that got 200 millions for fighting UFC guy. F.uck of Floyd.
You are quite narrow-minded, the difference with Floyd is they all made money because he generated the revenue, 200, 300 mill is nothing when you generate 600, the trouble today is that the fighters want the massive money but the fights are losing money, so it's bad for boxing, they all said Showtime was mad making his 6 fight deal for a astronomical amount of money, and they laughed all the way to the bank with the biggest PPVs in history.
Agree with Floyd on this one. Though these guys are risking their lives, the risk-free opponents + higher paydays are what leads to long layoffs and diva attitudes.
Floyd earned his way to that position and brought out the casuals when he fought. Nowadays, most fighters have mansions, jewelry, cars, and other stuff but they won’t face top level competition…if they’re even active enough to make such a move.
They're risking their lives doe. Kills me.
As if someone is pointing a gun on their heads forcing them to be in this profession.
Aren't garbage collectors risking their lives too collecting your garbage? Yet they get paid minimum wage.
Where is your concern about them?
Fans like babying boxers. Grown ass men getting babied as if they don't know what they're doing and getting themselves into. It's what shakes my head sometimes. This constant invocation of they're risking their lives doe. I mean there are many profession that involve people risking their lives like the police, firefighters, soldiers, yet they have no hope of getting one million dollars a year in their lifetime.
