The fact that they're taking so long to even release an estimate makes me think the fight flopped hard.
Edit: Just saw the Rafeal report. Only 600k. Canelo is gonna be a huge flop for Showtime.
Dan Rafael is saying 650-700k. That is significantly less than Tank v Ryan.
https://sporticos.com/en-gb/news/top...of-2023-so-far
Tank headlining sold approximately 1.4 mil ppv sales in 2023.
Canelo headlining sold somewhere between 900-940k ppv sales in 2023.
Thats about a 500k difference.
Hard to continue saying Canelo is the face of the sport in America.
i guess we cant use the tank is still young excuse anymore? that worked for about 6 years but soon we will be using the "hes too old" excuse to explain away his ducking and mismatched fights. i knew something was very wrong when tank wouldnt even fight guys like tevin farmer or alberto machado. good solid fighters but not the kind of guys you would duck, but duck he did.
Unfortunately it is Mayweather's biggest harm he left to modern boxing...the extreme emphasis on the "undefeated" title to the point that top talent are dodging other top talents due to not wanting to potentially risk a loss...or in Tank's case, ANY talent that is not a pushover for him prior to the fight. Seeing Tank right now, in 10 years chances are that 17 years old kid that Mayweather is trying to sell as the "next Mayweather" will be a 27 years old 25-0 boxer with maybe a belt or two at featherweight/super featherweight.
I mean, I know there is a difference in era but Ali was 56-5, Tyson was 50-6, and Sugar Ray Robinson was 174-19 but when discussing about ATG boxers no one cares that they aren't undefeated. I'm not saying Tank is anywhere close to them in talent, but at the rate he's going in 30 years new boxing fans won't know of him outside one of the many names of former champions list on wikipedia. Heck, the "face of boxing" Canelo also has two losses for that matter, and he is still raking in millions.
Also, given that his lightweight and super lightweight belts are a "Regular" and not "Super", he's a pseudo-"three division" champion who in reality he closer to an one-division former champion than three-division. Not to mention, because he's currently in his second division, even if he wins a legit belt and then he goes up a weight he's still only going to be a three division champion which is nice, but also not exactly a world beater given how many belts are available these days.
By the way, another guy that is younger than Tank who is about to overtake him in boxing accomplishments is Shakur (age 26), who has had WBO featherweight, WBC super featherweight, WBO super featherweight, and about to fight De Los Santos for vacant WBC lightweight title, making him a legit three division champion with 4 belts.
Boxer A is a 24-years old (25 next month) lightweight boxer with a 30-0 record. He was the undisputed lightweight champion and currently the three-belt unified champion, and is about to move up to super lightweight and take on one of the belt holders for his first fight to potentially win his 5th world title in his second division.
Boxer B is a 28-years old (29 next month) lightweight boxer with a 29-0 record. He currently holds the WBA "Regular" (under the Boxer A who is the Super champion) "belt", while in the past he was been the IBF super featherweight champion and the WBA (Super) super featherweight champion. He also has one win two years ago at the super lightweight division where he won the WBA "Regular" belt. He has a lot of followers on social media and gets great money for his fights.
Without the names on it, resume wise Boxer A is running a marathon circle around Boxer B. Boxer A, if he continues his trajectory (a BIG if), is a potential HoF material on paper, (not saying he WILL make it, but just by description on paper as of right now) while Boxer B is...one of the many random former champions in history of boxing. It really is sad, that a guy of Tank's talent is about to turn 29 next month and doesn't have anything more to boast on his boxing resume. Sure, at this rate he will retire being filthy rich which probably will make him happy, but accomplishment-wise he will have near nothing to write home about, which will be sad given his talent and what he could've been if he went for being the best and not the richest. The fact that the 4-years younger Devin Haney and his rather...boring boxing has more fights and accolades than Tank right now is just...sad.

hes never fought a top 5 fighter yet hes saving boxing? you are confusing making a mockery of boxing with saving boxing. hes just a con artist and you are his mark. you and fanboys like you are what is destroying boxing because you dont hold your idols accountable at all. you will watch anything he does and they know this, which is why they only do easy fights

I don't care if Canelo get 10k PPV if he will just friggin fight Benavidez to prove he can clean out 168, then rematch Bivol and challenge Beterbiev at 175. If he does that even when he loses to the latter two (again), I'll definitely find new respect for him willing to fight the actual best and not some popular name from 2~3 classes below him.
His 50 million or 100 million or whatever that he's earning means crap when the opponent is a guy who was 99% guaranteed to lose simply due to weight difference, and the idea of a Canelo vs Crawford is an even bigger boredom waiting to happen. Adding Benavidez/Bivol 2/Beterbiev to his resume regardless of result >>>>>>>>>> Undisputed 168 champion (but I refuse to fight the next best rated guy in this weight class) who beat 154 undisputed champion Charlo and 148 undisputed champion Crawford).
"But he has TBE's blessing, bruh."
yeah a guy who avoided all the hardest challenges during his career giving his blessing to a guy who is also avoiding all the hardest challenges during his career. its almost like...oh a con! they spit in their fan's faces by not taking good fights because they know their fans dont care, and deep down the fans dont really want them to take challenges because if they lost, the whole con falls apart, and they get exposed for following a fraud and phony. this way the con can continue in perpetuity and both parties can get what they want. the con artists rake in money and accolades and the patsy gets the feeling that they are following true greatness. oh how lucky they are
Somebody sounds mad. Tank is the new savior of boxing. He's exciting and fun to watch unlike boring ass Canelo. And I'm not a judge or a jury. I'll leave it to the justice department to judge Tank.

Look dude, your secular god is retired from professional boxing. You can worship him on Instagram and at his exhibitions, you don't need to be on boxing forums anymore.
All you do is try to derail topics with this lame bullshit. Your trolling is fucking terrible.
- - New face of boxing umpteen Mug Shots, eh?
My how the mighty have fallen...:hitit:

Tank is the new face of boxing. Gotta respect Canelo, though. Man is out here getting paid 9 figures to kill networks.

Not a bad number at all for boxing on PPV in America in this day and age tbh.
It's a terrible number considering what they're paying Canelo. Turns out you actually have to promote fights. Canelo just thinks people will watch because he's Canelo.
500-600k. canelo aint really a household name. besides the raza, aint nobody know about nelo.
You my homie
I guess I don’t like Canelo because my brother in law is a piece of chit from Guadalajara
my fat sister has two sons from this puto
they stayed with me a couple of years in West LA living posh
id Turn off the tv and video games and they’d work as software testers
they tried to resist initially but I diblvd
dn’t give a fvck about their video gaming bull chit mm
we lived on sawfelle
lil Osaka near Olympic blvd
I don’t like Canelo
I don’t like red headed Mexicans.. I was kinda red headed
Canelo signed a poster for my nephews
And their worthless wet back father got joe Montana to sign a football
maybe he isn’t the piece of chit I know him to be
Caleb plant fight did 800k. Black fight fans really don't support their own.
It had the hook, to do really big you gotta have that unseen hook that grabs hold of fans, its like if TC fought Canelo I think its there that fight would do over a mill PPV because of the challenge and styles. Benavidez Canelo would do at least 7 maybe 800k, that box office hook has gotta come from both sides nobody creates massive sales on their own fighting average guys it takes two to generate it.
Tank Davis vs Ryan Garcia just earlier this year was over a million, wasn't it?
I don't think it was over a mill but it did great because of the social media for Ryan and Tank is big also, back in Floyd days the overall numbers were higher across the board with many big fights in the 5-8 range and the biggest doing over a mill, its a different scenario now times are changing.
