His heavyweight career was short-lived but he beat one great all time heavyweight Larry Holmes defeated a good heavyweight at the time Jerry Cooney and he knocked him out and Jerry Conney is one of the hardest hitting heavyweights of all time (Foreman said it and felt it ) but for some reason because his quick loss to Mike Tyson they commonly rank Spinks not well suited for the heavyweight division despite his great and good wins
He was good, but Mike was from another planet.
Spinks was unlucky to run into this truck.
Who knows how many brain cells died when he got KO'd.
HW champion retiring after 1st round KO loss doesn't look good, so probably that's why.
Tyson barely landed a clean blow on him. He hit Holmes, Pinklon Thomas, and Jose Ribalta a hell of a lot harder than he hit Spinks for that one punch ko. Spinks was ready to lay down and collect his check. All time great lthvy thought and that is often overlooked.
Ya'll must be bugging Mike Spinks is top 10 maybe top 5 all time at 175. Jumped up to heavy, dethroned Prime undefeated Larry Holmes beat him 2x and only lost to prime Mike Tyson.

Who is "acting?" Historians who compose lists? Because at his best Spinks should ne a light heavy. A great light heavy should go after low hanging fruit in the heavyweight division and even challenge the heavyweight champ.
