But you’re right all that matters is what the ref seen. It doesn’t help either that there were a few low and borderline shots before this.
That's crazy, and is contrary to everything I've ever heard. Watch dan_cov's video posted here...

Rockin' studied for his referee's license...let's ask him about that Shawn Porter explanation.
Porter is saying that any part of the kidney protector is not low and pointing to the cup as low. He's saying that the bladder is fair game.
Well according to Luis Pabon anything on the green would be considered low.

I don't know what Porter said...I watched a UK feed. But many people said and believe they saw conflicting things. He may believe he saw a punch that landed above the belt line...as defined by the ref. IMO...I believe it was low, but what counts is what the ref believed he saw, and he called it low. Frankly...I didn't see anything from Dubois that made him look like a winner.

Correct. And a ref will usually say before a fight that the trunks are kinda high etc.
more often than not though a ref will usually say to keep the punches up if he felt the beltline shots were low. As you said to rockin’ earlier.
but from my understanding and what coincides with what shawn porter said is that that’s a legal punch. Punches aren’t illegal until they travel below the beltline of the trunks. Again, that’s according to shawn porter and that’s what I always had thought as well

If you're talking about the belt line as determined where the belt line is by the ref...that's borderline, but not the actual belt itself because as I said, the position of the belt may be higher or lower.

The belt on the shorts is irrelevant. Boxers where them at different Heights (although they shouldn't).
The belt line is actually an imaginary line at the top of the hips, just under the belly button.
The ref will break the action every time if administering a warning.
He'll first point at the fighter and then tell him what he did wrong.
A caution he will just speak out during the action doe.
.............Rockin':dunno:
Yes, a caution... "keep the punches up" without breaking the action.
On the belt line is a legal shot though. We cant go redefining stuff now

I called it on the belt line. I also had the advantage of watching replays in slow motion from every possible angle. I didn't think it was low. Apparently this happened in the Usyk/Joshua rematch.
I'm wondering if the ref wasn't looking for something dirty prior to the fight when Dubois said " HEADBUTTS... KNEES... I'LL BEAT USYK BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!' Probably wasn't a good idea to suggest he would resort to dirty tactics to win prior to the fight.

The answer depends on who the fans are going for, biased usyk fans will say its low, we all have biases depending on the situation, so... Im 100% sure that if it were the other way around they would say its legal. Either way the ref called it low, usyk took advantage as most would. I myself thought it was clean
I'm not a fan of neither. I don't follow them or know anything about them 2 fighters. It was not a low blow, in my opinion.
I still can't believe how many posters on here think that a low blow is a punch to the cup ONLY, after all the discussions about it in the last 2 days.

It's not the belt line for the obvious reason that the belt is anywhere from high to low. The ref will point out where on the belt line is a foul if he considers it too high. If he thinks it's OK, he will say everything above the belt line is fair.
If it was the belt line, then everyone would wear it like Jerry Lewis.

If the punches stray a bit low, usually the ref will call out a warning and not break the action, unless someone gets hurt. The ref can also take a point deduction if he feels it's warranted.

it's always been below the belt line.....what the **** are you protecting between the navel and the above the crotch?...jeez!
The area is low, you understand how the cup crashes up when the protector is hit, look at the black line inside the trunks at the top, that's the top of the protector,
The belt line is not the mark. The navel dammit. How long you guys have been watching boxing?
This has been said a million times and still they talk about a 4-inch belt line, I swear there are not many brains in here, its a thin line that goes from the top of hip bones through the Navel, above it is good below it is low.
