When Mike Tyson fought the best in his peak of his prime he knocked them all out Wilder struggles to knock the best out when he fights them ( which be rarely does )
You could argue Povetkin has more power than Wilder. He's stopped far better men than Wilder did.
There is absolute power, then their is overall destructiveness.
Wilder has a serious level of absolute power with his best punch.
But overall, there could of been many more overall more destructive offensive Heavyweight fighters.
Because they have more range and delivery with their power etc.
No
He has the highest KO ratio in history
hes knocked out or knocked down every fighter he ever faced.
he has many one punch KOs and weight wise he is a small heavyweight. he is sometimes 215 pounds still one shot KOing guys who are 250+
his ko ratio(33 percent) against top 10 opponents is less than guys like joshua and wlad and im sure many many others i just didnt look them up. im not sure why we are giving wilder props and accolades for fighting weak competition more than other top guys did/do. puzzling
One man has beat him. One. In 45 fights. And that man still got knocked down multiple times.
his competition has been horrid though. how devastating has wilder been against top 10 opponents? he's 3-3 with 2 kos for a 33 percent ko ratio.
he's knocked out one fighter(twice) who was in the top 10 and that was ortiz the other 4 fights he had against guys in the top 10 went the distance or he got ko'd. thats a 33 percent ko ratio which is pretty standard when men step up in competition, but wilder rarely steps up his comp so some people are fooled by ko'ing bums. wilder goes from 100 percent ko ratio against unranked fighters to 33 when fighters are in the top 10. shocker? no. guys like joshua and wlad have higher ko ratios against top 10 opponents.
When you check Wilder's resume, he really has not banged out the caliber and level of fighters that Mike Tyson, David Tua did.
Wilder hits with great power with his best punch. But overall his offense is not as devastating as other past great offensive fighters.
Fighters such as Wladimir Kiltschko, Vitali Kiltschko, Lennox Lewis at their peak overall offensively were most likely more dangerous than Wilder 'And nobody really rate's those fighters as monster punchers, even though they were power punchers'.
So I don't think Wilder's absolute power is overrated, but his offense is 'Wilder's ability to deliver his power is not as great as past offensive fighters'.
There were many destructive punchers in the 90's, their power also had range and variation 'There was not just one fighter like in today's era, that the media built up as a monster puncher'.
Note: This era of Heavyweights although it is a Super Heavyweight era, there are not many great offensive fighters 'Or power punchers'. And I think this is also what highlights Deontay Wilder.
Maybe in past era's Wilder would just be another dangerous Heavyweight 'Wilder's absolute power is not overrated, but overall his offense is not skill for skill elite'.
Regardless, I still rate Wilder extremely highly within this era of Heavyweights etc.

I do think his right hand is legitimately one of the most devastating one shot weapons in boxing history. Also because its so quick and can land from far away. But of course his level of opposition has helped his KO % too. Hes quite defensively vulnerable so if he'd fought stronger opposition over his career a lot of guys would have gotten to him before he got to them.
We cant always compare power based off level of competition. Raw power is raw power and if Wilder lands flush, anybody will go down just the same. He put Fury to sleep for good 9 seconds or so only to get robbed.
Edwin Valero knocked out a bunch of bums too but is his power any less than Pacquiao’s? They had different types of punching power but both guys power were real.
Wilder is a true KO artist.
Overrated? Lmfao naw his power is legit lethal.
I dont get this Mike Tyson comparison. Sure Tyson was the better puncher but if both guys landed flush with their right hands, Wilder’s power could be more damaging. The leverage he gets on that right hand is no joke.
Wilder’s right hand is more powerful.

yeah and not even just knocked down off balance or slightly dazed, fury was out for a few seconds and came back

Mike Tysons power is more over rated. Your saying in his prime he knocked them all out yet he went to points 4 times in those late 80s you call prime. Or is his prime when he got sparked by Buster? Most of you don't even know when you mean prime tyson.
Wilders defo has the hardest punch in history or top 3. People claiming he foughts bums, its basically what M Tyson did, you think he would get away with stopping 15 cans in 1 year in the social media era,no,he would get as much shit about trash opponents as wilder does. Wilder has stopped everyone he faced, lost to Fury yes but even himhe dropped few times, clearly he is a huge puncher and its proven
why has no one else dropped everyone they faced? You'll say cause Wilders they've all been trash oppenents, but plenty of journeyman have great chins, he dropped everyone. Name your biggest punchers like M Tyson and others they all have failed to drop some journeymen or gone to points without droppin them
