You'll be crazy to be a fan of the sport just to follow one guy.
One fight a year is the norm. You'll be lucky to see them fight twice, let alone more than that.
one fight a year is NOT the fking norm
We're nearing the last quarter of the year, so I don't think fights of this nature would still be made this late. So this thread has zero relevance now.
Don't worry, bro, this is my last thread for Mr Jaron "Boots" Ennis. If he and his own team are not so enthusiastic about going back in the ring like they did when they were starting out, why should fans?

Stay-busy fights are supposed to be just that, stay-busy. As opposed to just sitting around doing nothing. No fighter should lose in a stay-busy fight. You may not look good, but at least you kept yourself active. But it looks like Ennis' team is not even willing to take another risk taking on Karen types. Blair Cobbs might be a good, entertaining scrap while waiting. No serious boxing fan would predict an upset. Again it's a stay-busy fight. Nothing else. Better than waiting around.
True. They're not meant to derail any top guy. Othewise, you're just truly hyped to the max that you're so scared of even taking fights that are meant to see you're just ramping up your activity and visibility.
Jaron Ennis fought nine times, eight times, six times, four times in his first starting years as a pro fighting 6 - 8-tier fighters. He doesn't need to fight that often anymore. His team was able to pad his undefeated record successfully. He only needs to fight once a year now. He already fought twice this year, what more could you ask for the man?

Any stay-busy fight for Jaron Boots Ennis?
....Or you'd rather want him wait around for long periods of time?
How about Blair Cobbs for a stay-busy fight? What do you think?

Pretty obviously he's waiting to get upgraded to full titlist by email. He knows he's not going to get a fight against Crawford, and doesn't seem to want to risk his interim IBF title against anyone dangerous in the meantime.
For a heavily hyped boxer like him, he should be fighting 3 - 4 times a year... But that's just me.
His team got a plan for him, obviously. Fight once or twice a year, and the majority of the plan is wait around till something big comes up. Something big may mean a title shot or a money fight, maybe both. It's a simple plan. It may take years but it's a plan, at least.
It's a remarkably patient team and they're willing to wait. Let's not start another thread about him till he decides to be more active.
Boots Ennis is the REAL deal and the heir to the Welterweight division once Crawford moves up in weight. In fact, I think he would give Crawford a far tougher fight than Spence did but would LOSE due to lack of experience.
Are you guys okay with seeing Jaron Boots Ennis continue sitting it out for the rest of the year? Or prefer to see him take some cab driver for a stay-busy ride before the year ends, you know, to remind casuals he's still in the game, show off his boxing prowess, give them a taste of what is to come -- more showcase fights.
He's waiting for a fight accompanied with a retirement cheque.
Most of them are doing the same thing. Look at Wilder. Can't even take a stay-busy fight
for fear he might lose the Joshua fight.

Ennis moved to the IBF and Virgil was moved to the WBA. Nothing to discuss. They were both #1 WBO mandatories before the moves.
Nothing to discuss?! Sure, he wants no part of the WBO, but what about the IBF?
He's still the top guy in the IBF rankings. There's still plenty to discuss. He can still go for it.
He just fought recently against a solid opponent stopped and Crawford is publicly stating he won’t fight him, why criticize him before his next opponent is even announced?
I have a feeling we get Boots-Stanionis then the haters can go hate on that too.
boxing fans are pretty much the worst fans
It's always been a business decision for Ennis' team. Main objective is to maintain the zero loss record.
Not only did they pulled out of the WBO rankings, they also pulled out of WBC and WBA. His name is nowhere to be found in 3 of the ABC orgs. How can this even be for a guy with such skill? Barrios is at #5 in the WBC, for example. Is he better than Ennis? Even guys who you haven't heard before were in that list.
He's #1 in the IBF, whose belt previously belongs to Spence. It's obviously this one and only Org they prefer to do business with.
Team Ennis is very specific in what they want. Crawford, obviously, is not in their specifics.

Ortiz vs Crawford should have happened as well. I remember they're both available for each other at one time, and Vergil was in his healthy element. Unfortunately, things quickly change and such fight is now far from happening. Thought of losing for the Ortiz camp is clearly the culprit. As they say you can't turn back the clock.
