Crossed my mind a few times. Since this fight isn't for Fury's titles, the only thing he's possibly got to lose is his 0. But even that is still uncertain. They say the fight is professional rules boxing, but it's not for Fury's titles. So how do we know for sure that the fight will actually appear on Fury's official record?
Let me explain.. There's a governing body in the UK called BIBA which sanction pro fights but Boxrec don't recognize them so none of their fights are listed on a boxer's official record! Boxrec only recognize BBBofC, not BIBA. So in theory, Fury could use a non-recognized governing body, like BIBA, for the Ngannou fight. It is in Saudi too after all. This would mean his Boxrec record wouldn't show the loss and his 0 would still remain intact there.
Now imagine Fury throws the the first fight and pretends to lose. One of the biggest upsets in boxing history. But it might not even appear of Fury's official boxing record. Next they have a rematch with Fury's titles officially on the line this time. Fury wins the rematch, and then the tiebreaker trilogy fight is made. After all said and done, both guys could make over $120 million for the 3 fights.
This would potentially keep Fury from fighting another real boxer for up to 3 years. Assuming he fought Ngannou once ever year for 3 years. By the time that trilogy is over, Usyk would be 40.
And the WBC would have to strip him if he fought him again.
You can't remain a titlist without defending the belt... especially if you're actually fighting non-boxers.
If you're one of Mauricio Sulaiman's favourites, you can do whatever you like while holding a WBC belt.
Jermall Charlo hasn't defended his WBC title in over 2 years!
According to Ngannou, there is a one-way rematch clause for Fury in the contract they signed.

Seems doubtful. The guy comes across as being very risk averse and scared of losing so hes not gonna willingly allow the world to see him "lose" by taking a dive.
Surely even the WBC wouldn't continue to recognise Fury if he made a rematch?
I don't think Fury's ego can take a defeat. He can just go around challenging MMA fighters, Sumo wrestlers, WWE wrestlers... there's loads of easy money for him to make if he doesn't want to fight for titles. And he doesn't have to lose.
Personally I think it's 50/50 whether he ever fights a serious boxer again.
