Ennis vs Villa fight tomorrow night, and I think Ennis is going to beat his azz. Probably hurts him with an uppercut and ends up stopping him.
I'm wondering if all the posters criticizing Ennis' competition, particularly after his last fight, will give him credit for beating Villa. Many were asking he at least fight Villa, well he's fighting Villa tomorrow. Does everyone think Ennis will just beat Villa now?
I’m not sure why people think Villa is such a threat?
His record isn’t that impressive.
That said, seeing how Ennis looked not impressive last time out. I don’t think he’s as good as people think he is. Crawford and Spence would whip him EASILY.
Depends on if its a GOOD win. If its like his last fight vs Karen then fcuk no. But remember, Villa isnt some top guy either.
If Ennis wins he should fight Stanionis next cause Spence/Crawf have a rematch clause and i expect Errl to exercise the rematch after Bud beats him.
I have stopped playing these games. At the end of the day it's not fans who picked these guys for him. It's Ennis and his team. He had 31 fights on his record with no notable names and that's been the route they have taken. It's irrelevant whether he gets credit for it or not. The answer will always be subjective, anyways.
Well, I said on the podcast afterwards, he NEEDED what happened to him after Chukhadzhian. He needed rounds and he needed to understand what to work on. If he took it as a learning experience, and it sounded like he did, he SHOULD show significant improvement.
Villa is a perfect test, because he seems to be able to catch guys slipping.
This is a fight for real fans. Only marks would criticize this or trash Boots. Better that it happened to him now against a guy with no power vs. someone with knockout power where Boots ends up like Blair Cobbs did.
This......
Boots isn't overrated, he had flaws exposed, which he admitted to.
What we now need to see is if he fixed the most critical one. Which is no head movement. Because Villa's got serious power.
I think some people go overboard and do overrate him, but he's a super talented young fighter who was been unable to secure significant fights. Some people came hard at him after his last fight but they might have stopped posting.
I think Villa is a great opponent for Ennis. I'm interested to see if Ennis will be able to hurt him early, or if he'll need to try and break him down, or if he settles for boxing on the outside. Additonally, Ennis sometimes gets overly excited with his offense and stays in the pocket too long. He could get caught in between punches if he's not responsible, but I think he'll do just fine.
He should and shouldn’t take him lightly and expect to blitz him early, although that would be a big statement. Villa has a high KO percentage, is aggressive, has a strong chin, and is coming off a huge upset win.
He won't get credit until he becomes champ and it's not his fault. Bud and spence been holding the division up. Thurman don't want no smoke. Ugas been recovering. Ortiz ain't interested.
he should just fight Stanionis next, since vergil health is in question
No and HELL NO!!!! Under 6.5 might be worth it. Man u have to bet $1400 to win $100.

I'm not talking about betting. Are you putting money on Villa?
I bring this up because people go overboard with criticism towards fighters. Ennis didn't look invincible in his last fight and some poster were making it seem like he might not even beat Villa because he was so overrated based on the "eye test". I like that there's a few people sticking to their guns, I'll be interested in their take after the fight. But there were more people bagging on Boots, maybe they haven't seen the thread but O want them to keep the same energy for tonight's fight.
I should hope so Villa should be undefeated, he is coming off back-to-back upset wins and can punch like a mule.
I don't think he has been knocked down or hurt to my knowledge at least.
I think he is a fighter that Boots should look good against but Villa is certainly a very dangerous fighter.
Anyone that hits that hard is a threat, period.
