Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo Is On, Jermall Charlo Out Due To Personal Issue

Etc. There's lots of sources but it looks pretty clear that PBC was planning on making Mall v Canelo but 160 Charlo wasn't in shape and had otherwise unspecified "personal" issues so bro had to step up.
WBC needs to strip that clown. If he can't make 168 pounds for the biggest payday of his life, he's certainly not making 160, probably ever again, and the middleweight division needs to move on. Mell can handle ALL of Mall's business.
He got outboxed by Tony Harrison.
Would be surprised if he could outbox Canelo 2 weight classes higher with relative ease
That was an ironic comment. However, Canelo is looking bad of late, so anything can happen.
Interesting narrative considering he was supposed to fight Jermall Charlo and Mall was the one who pulled out last second for "personal reasons." They must be pretty serious for him to say no to a Canelo payday.
It's pretty obvious Canelo was expecting the "160" Charlo, not Mell. Nobody saw that coming, because it was Mall pulling out, not Canelo cherry picking. I blame PBC. They should have tried to make the Morrell or Benavidez fights instead.

All that noise, then Jermell outboxes Canelo with relative ease.

I think Haymon realizes he needs to make Canelo look like a killer to maximize profits on the other 2 fights.
Canelo likely dominates JMW Charlo. Then MW Charlo tries to avenge the defeat. Then its either a rematch or Benavidez.
That's what I was thinking too. Hopefully MW Charlo gets a decent scalp at 168 in the next few months, and then the story of revenge would be set up very nicely. But for some reason I don't think it will pan out like Canelo/Haymon will expect...
What I think i meant was that eddie was focused on canelo coming up to 168 and becoming undisputed, which he did do, & that was great, but it didnt really move the american market or boxing fans in the states because it was viewed as a weak euro division really & then he dipped his toe into 175 as well and plans for beyond, so eddie was looking up the divisions & he was somewhat viewed as failing with canelo.
Now, canelo is doing the exact opposite, hes looking down the divisions & even fighting with no extra belts on the line for him at all & hes chosen an african american guy as his opponent, its literally the polar opposite for him now. Instead of fighting bigger guys hes fighting smaller guys & not unknown or not liked euro guys who will not move the needle in america in the sport, hes fighting a guy who some had even said hes ducking too if i recall correctly.
People said he was ducking the other Charlo... Not this one.
You mean as a build up fight for Canelo ? Can you elaborate

If he fought Andrade or Jermall Charlo it would be ok
The complaint about Jermall was he hadn't fought in two years and has mental issues.
Andrade is garbage and less accomplished that Mell.
So now it's a cherrypick? For years we've been hearing how Canelo avoids the black American boxer because of their skills, for years the narrative was him avoiding the Charlos, Andrade, because of their superior boxing skills, as recent as last year before the Bivol fight, the narrative was he was ducking the skilled black American in favor of unknown Bivol. Avoiding the athletic superior black boxer in favor of euro bums and over the hill GGG.
Well, Canelo has three "skilled, black Americans" lined up and the narrative changes to, the bigger threat to Canelo right now is a Mexican in Benavidez. :lol1::lol1::lol1:
What happened?
Glad to see the fact that there was never any black boxer threat in and around Canelo's division, that was all a lie, and the biggest threat to him is in fact another Mexican.

...YES!
Intriguing Fight thought and I think Mell will be far more competitive than people think but it will prove to be too big of a Jump
Mell getting a HUGE Check for this one and if he lose...SO! Once the Check Clears after 2-3 Days he will quickly get over that Defeat and he can just go back down to 154 where he will likely remain Undisputed and get himself another great Payday with Tim Tszyu so it really is Win/Win for him absolutely nothing to lose and no pressure on him at all
He's not going back to 154. No Charlo vs Tszyu fight at 54. Canelo ruined that
Jermell at least will be at his absolute best. I'm not exactly excited for the fight but Jermell has been draining himself for years to make 154. For this fight he's going to be 100% physically and mentally his motivation level will through the roof.
Canelo, on the other hand, has seen better days.
I do not know what the terms are for the 3 fight deal but PBC has got to be holding their breath for this first fight. It was a gamble leading with a weak fight like this one.

When was the last time you saw a fighter move up two weight divisions to fight the best or at least 2nd best in the division for his first fight and win? The only time I can think of is Hopkins vs Tarver. This is 100% a cherrypick. And if the Spence rumors are true, that would be an even bigger disgrace.
Absolutely. With that being said I'm still going to buy it
Oh those are facts haha. Me personally I’ll be going downtown to enjoy the scene, Alvarez always brings in a big crowd at the bars and might as well make a night out with the girlfriend. Two birds one stone
