I will give those suggestions a shot
Unfortunately UFC is crazy about copyright claims and have most content locked behind Fight Pass, even stuff from other promotions that they now own the library to. There was a Youtube channel that somehow got away with uploading all kinds of stuff for like a year but that got shut down recently.
This guy seems to have all the Pride GPs still up for now..

Hey now, Harold Howard was one of the most skilled fighters to ever live!

In all seriousness though, some of the best MMA events ever were Pride FC shows particularly from around 2003 to its death in 2007. MMA in the 90s was mostly not great unless you love the tournament format and/or want to see the skill evolution.

lol just googled it, he really was trying to punch with a heavyweight title contender. Whoops
Lol he was dominating up to that point as well. Low fight IQ.
Boxing was a mess in it's early stages.
I have no doubt MMA has as well.
I fear I will have to suffer through some......unintentional hysterics first

Artur Szpilka fought Mariusz Pudzianowski on this card also didn’t he? Got a link?
edit: NVM, just saw Szpilka KO’d him lol

The skill level has been pretty steady since the late 00s imo. The most all round skilled guys right now are probably Volk, Jones, Aljo and outside of the UFC (used to be in it and is a top 10 all time p4p'er) Demetrious Johnson. Then on the more specialist side you have Islam (wrestler) and Adesanya (kickboxer) who are both current champs.
Dunno if you've ever watched the early UFCs but if you watch them in order you can see the evolution in talent happening very rapidly and basically the blueprint for MMA forming based around what happens ie what skills/styles seem effective etc. I wouldnt even classify the first few UFCs as actual MMA, it gradually becomes that by around 97.

I will youtube some recent MMA highlights
See if skill levels have changed
Yeah
Pain, however horrific, is only temporary.

There are specialists in MMA, always have been. The last two UFC PPV main events featured an olympic medallist wrestler and a guy who was still a world champ and p4p'er in kickboxing 2 years ago. But generally those specialists also have to develop other skills and have the ability to force others into their game to be successful nowadays. One of those PPV cards also had Kron Gracie on the undercard, an elite pure BJJ competitor who made a complete bum of himself against a mediocre opponent.
Most submissions are horrifically painful if you dont tap almost immediately too. But it beats being dead or a vegetable I guess.

Being great at one thing > being good at many

A broken shin hurts more than going into a coma or dying

Not liking it is one thing, being unable to concede that it has any skill or talent involved is another. Yes, I know i'm somewhat guilty of that with the checkers comment, but I was just talking about the technical/strategic complexity. For the record I think boxing is more difficult overall, and although it doesnt look it outwardly its more damaging to your health too. But yes, MMA takes skill, you will find gyms in every city on the planet now, its hardly like its some small scale circus sideshow these days. It was already moving from spectacle into legitimate sport in the mid 90s.
In a gym setting, I'm sure mugs look like Bruce Lee/Mo Ali 2.0
Being great at one thing > being good at many
IMHO
I'll give MMA one thing, it's more painful.

Cool
MMA fans can enjoy their sport and boxing fans can do likewise :fing02:
M''M''A''s, though :lol1:

Calling it like it is as in calling the technical stuff thats happening practically every second of a fight that anyone that actually knows about MMA is able to recognise but you cant :lol1:
Its funny because somehow i'm able to see the skill in it, and can pretty easily tell the difference between lower level and higher level fights/fighters, a fighters strengths and weaknesses etc. You just dont have a clue what you're watching tbh. Stick to checkers I guess lol.
Btw MMA fans tend to be more knowledgeable combat fans in general. The nature of MMA as a hybrid sport with lots of crossover athletes means a lot of them watch/have watched other combat sports including boxing. You will not see the same level of ******ed ignorance and lack of technical knowledge from MMA fans towards boxing as you see in reverse.
Cool

Fans love what they love
This is where boxing fans > MMA fans
Most of us are able to tell it like it is.
Slop is slop.

You think the average person who DKSAB really recognises the skill in it? And compared to MMA boxing is a relatively simple sport thats much easier to understand on a technical level because at its core its just land a punch vs avoid a punch.
Dude, one of my best friends is S forces and a Judo trainer.
He once told me:
The only guys I respect are boxers, they are well trained and don't get tired easily. If I cannot take them down soon enough, they are dangerous with only one punch.
Do not disrespect boxers just because you love MMA.
If theres no skill involved how are MMA fans and analysts able to go into deep technical breakdowns etc or predict who is going to win based on stylistic match ups, one guy being better at X and the other better at Y etc etc?
And if theres no skill involved how are these unskilled bums able to beat other combat sports athletes?
