MGM Live Bet at round twelve was actually 5:1 for Loma. Sad day
Live betting only reflects public opinion. It's not the be all and end all.
The live odds were +100 for Haney, and -125 for Loma through 5. Haney was up through 5.
Just finished scoring it:
rd: L/H
1: L
2: L
3: L
4: L (close)
5: H
6: H (swing)
7: H
8: L
9: H
10: L
11: L
12: H
115-113 or 7-5 for Lomachenko.
Lomachenko showed his age for sure. I also don’t see why people think Haney took the first few rd’s, he would land 1, maybe 2 punches and then get lit up. Lomachenko just outboxed him in these slower paced rds, and outhustled him. Haney only started fighting and pushing the pace in rd 5. Lomachenko kept the same pace throughout besides maybe rd 10 and 11.
So basically, a very close fight that could've gone either way.
Rounds 1, 7, 8, and 9 were close on those cards. 1 of those rounds flips and it's 115-113 Haney.
I'm still not understanding the outrage. Even this site's live scorecard had it a draw.
Boxing fans are their own worst enemy. Constantly moan about top fighters not fighting each other and matchups being too uneven. We finally get an even match-up and everyone cries robbery because a close fight doesn't go the way of the fan favourite.
7-5 loma
For all the haney supporters or loma haters who say it was close who cares ect
It's a man's life goal he put a lot of blood sweat and tears and deserved the nod
The 3 judges are corrupt and if people keep on acting like it was close and could have gone either way you're totally wrong
There was about 4 definitive rounds for loma and the rest excluding the 12 were up in the air
If you can't see an agenda here or something wrong then you will always be blind
Even if it was scored just 1 round to loma then that's what these "professional" judges should have
Very easy fight to score imo and a clear rightful winner should have been declared
That's the fall back. They'll say "scoring is subjective" and then go on to find a way to explain the robbery. This shit was clear as day. If you are going out of your way to give Devin rounds, rounds he really didn't win but because he did "something," "anything," then you have it 7-5. So no matter what the case, this was absolutely a clear victory for Loma.
And we do need to sit back and reflect on that. I talked to some guys who've been in the business of boxing for 40 years, were doing pro fights back in the 80s, and you know what they told me? They said that Devin was on a drip before the fight, getting those IV nutrients pumped into him. I told him that that's illegal, that you can't do that in Nevada. He said, well yeah, it is unless you have a medical exemption. He went on to say that this is a dirty business, and almost everyone rehydrates with an IV now because no one policies it. These guys go back to the hotel room and have snuck in a drip line into the room. He said it's common practice. This is why we see guys come in at lightweight weighing 160 pounds or like Zurdo who weighs 205 pounds at light heavy.
So just take that into account. Devin who was a middleweight, 11 years younger than Loma, got his ass kicked. And Devin is actually a very good boxer, very smart. So for Loma to pull that win off speaks to how good Loma actually is. That's the first time in history that a 35 year old beat the crap out of a young, 24 year old champion. And he did it too a champion who gave himself ever conceivable advantage possible.
How many audio feeds were there? I had English but a different commentary team it seems
I don't know. I'm not sure. On mine I had two, which was the English one with Kellerman, Ward, Bradley, Tessitore, and Kriegal. Then there was the Spanish audio feed, which I'm going to watch next when I get a moment. It will be interesting hearing the difference. I was going to switch over, but I was too curious to see what those five dipshits had to say.
Haney was bigger than 3/1 dog in the live odds during the final round...I don't see how he could win the fight and neither did the bookies. he needed a gift and he got it.

A lot worse decision than people realize

I think the Kellerman scorecard and commentary had an influence on a lot of scorecards. When I rewatch this fight, I'm going to watch it in Espanol. Just to get a new perspective without the ESPN crew pushing their views. People in attendance had it much wider than that. Regardless, everyone knows the wrong man won.

You should probably watch it. There were a lot of close rounds early that could have easily swayed it Haney's way.
This is the most ridiculous overeaction to a close fight that I've ever seen. The 10th and 11th were clear Lomachenko rounds, and it feels like people are trying to base the "robbery" off of those 2 rounds alone.
I have Loma winning only r3, r10 and r11. Haney's body work is being overlooked.
Very Accurate IMO, had it similar
7-5 either way I'm OK with, Draw would've been better honestly. Was a Close fight and NEITHER dominated and neither never really separated themselves with a Knockdown or anything.
I do believe the saying "You Have To Take It From The Champ" I think Loma madr a crucial and now looking at it costly mistake not finishing that 12th Round Stronger. In A close fight like that you cannot just assume that you've done enough to win
Yeah I think giving Lomachenko the first round is extremely generous. The only meaningful punches in that round were thrown and landed by Haney.
Loma landed a clean uppercut and threw a flurry at the very end of the round where one or maybe two punches landed. He threw two or three flurries in that round, the crowd reacted but all of his punches missed.
Haney landed a clean left hook at the beggining of the round and then landed good bodyshots.
I think it was a close round and if you give it to Haney (as the three judges did, as this site did), then the average fan scorecard becomes a draw.

Same people are ok with Jermaine Ortiz being robbed on the cards.
This was a close fight, if you think it was 115-113 either way, accept the result, it's not like anyone had Loma a 120-108 winner .
Loma doesn't give a crap about anyone anyway, he just want to support the Ukrainian Orthodox Church...
Ortiz wasn't robbed. That narrative is getting old. You need to rewatch that fight if that's what you think. That was a clear win for Loma too.
Fan scorecards on boxrec are also 115-113 for Loma. I had it 116-112 for Loma but can see it that way too. It was horrible decision
