I don`t have the time for their mind games. And I have no intention of waiting until december for some "mega event" that will probably not even happen.
I am looking forward Joyce - Zhang rematch and some fringe level heavyweight fights. "Top 4 guys" lost me until I actually see them in the ring with somebody top 10.
Fury: All over the map about what will or won’t happen. Seems to be avoiding the big fights that will get him the legacy he could potentially achieve.
Usyk: Not sure what’s going on with him. He isn’t getting any younger, so if he wants to pursue a legacy for his name, he’d better get on with it. The Joshua wins were great, but they aren’t going to make him a candidate for ATG status on their own.
Wilder: Showed heart and determination in a brutal loss to Fury. Took time off to pursue a vision quest and dedicate a new statue of himself, which reduced him to tears because of the emotional experience. Returned to knock out a former sparring partner and boldly proclaimed that he’s back and everyone is afraid of him. Proceeds to go off the radar again.
Joshua: Loses a competitive fight, proceeds to go off the rails in a bizarre speech afterwards, and then returns to beat someone I had never heard of, but who slightly resembled Bermane Stiverne, by decision.
I feel like they just aren’t hungry enough. I don’t know what to make of Fury’s behavior, but I think he’s out to lunch. I believe Usyk may have some PTSD from the war and may have a lot going on that is distracting him. He already made good on his goal to beat Joshua, and I’m not sure what else he wants on this point. Wilder is confusing to me. He seems to buy into his own hype that he’s an unstoppable force of nature and wants a body on his record, and then he seems like a gentle giant who starts talking about how he hates hurting people. He also says he wants to fight, but then he says he wants to possibly retire sometimes. And Joshua seems to me to be missing something mentally that I’m not sure he’s going to get back.
I have my doubts that any of them truly have the hunger any longer.
The problem is everybody else sucks. I agree that the big 4 need to shut the hell up and fight each other but I'm not going to pretend the other bums in the division aren't bums just because.
