Wilder vs Ruiz, why didn't it get made? What were the reasons?

I really hate that this fight didn't happen. I don't know why it didn't happen, but I have to assume it's because one or both of them wanted more money than what was available.

The main reason is that noone wants to fight these days. Everyone wants to cash out. Also, both Wilder and Ruiz had legal problems recently.

Main point here is they are in the "same organization." Yet the fight didn't happen. And we keep hearing twitter fighters pretending to call out guys that don't belong in their home organization. Fights won't even get made in the same organization, let alone competing organizations. There are many fights that refuse to get made within the same organization. The Charlo twin won't run out of fights if they only choose to be active. 160 -168 got Lara, Derevyanchenko, Plant, Benavidez, Adames, Resendiz, all were available at one time. Then there was Jaron Ennis who had plenty of options at one time like Stanionis, Kavaliuskas, Butaev, Cobbs is free to fight everywhere... We also have Frank Martin and Isaac Cruz, who is ranked #2 in 3 of the ABC organizations. They just won't get made.

I don't know about Ruiz but in the case of Wilder he is tired. He wants to cash out immediately before he can retire for good. Those three fights with Fury must have really drained him both mentally, spiritually and physically. After fighting Fury three times; It makes it just that much harder for him to get up and motivated for a fight with Andy Ruiz. The only fights that Deontay wants now is either with Joshua or Usyk.

Common sense theory is Wilder's purse has gone back to where it was before the first Luis Ortiz fight. That's what PBC/Showtime probably offered to him. But to Wilder he's worth at least 5x that. Maidana vs Broner is probably bigger than this fight and that was not even a PPV show. So why would PBC offer more? Where will the money come from?​
