Tank isn't eye test because he's already gone in there and performed at the top level. Multiple times. He's the top guy. Everyone knows it. Even Ryan knew it.
Tank can be beaten - with aggression. Not by a guy with no defense.
The only reason Barrios did as well as he did is that Barrios kept coming and wouldn't relent. But Barrios also was defensively good in that fight, same as he was against Keef.
Rolly was defensively decent, but he got overconfident, as many of them do.
Well i say he is proven now for sure a lot of it is to do with not liking Tank on a personal level too so kind of like the Mayweather shtick people tuning in hoping he gets his ass beat every time aha not saying i agree with it or that it should influence peoples opinions on the fight but same is happening with Fury right now because nobody likes him he will be beaten by the next guy he fights lol it is what it is man.
What I want is for NSB to (finally) realize that the 'eye test' failed them. Again. And stop using it.
There was no logical reason to believe that Ryan Garcia was going to beat this man.
But more importantly, the fact that Rolly, who Tank said also lacked any fundamentals, was able to perform the way he did and NSB criticized that fight...that fight was actually more compelling than what Ryan just did. That's the problem. 'eye test'.
People ignored that Ryan had NO defense and relied on speed.
You know who else fit that?
Amir Khan.
Yet for this ONE guy, people bought into the hype. Why?
Because you fell for the 'eye test'. That's the answer here. Not that "Ryan had a bad night" - no, Ryan got SCHOOLED. As he always was going to.
We're right back to MayPac.
Well you are going on as if Tank is a defensive/offensive wizard who is unstoppable anything can happen in boxing and Tank is still proving himself at 28 years old not like he has built up a fantastic legacy so far not hating just stating facts so your "eye test" also applies to tank.
If Tank wasn't worried about Garcia he wouldn't have put so many stipulations on him because he didn't with Barrios seems you have more faith in Tank than he has in himself.
Vast majority of non-black pro boxers rolled with Ryan. If they're not "experts" don't know who would be
Listen, I'm not interested in dragging this for too long, it's just not worth it. But I think you mean vast majority of non-black boxers you saw/remember. I wasn't keeping track but vast majority of experts I saw (white, black and of any other color) picked Tank. As stated before, this is reflected in the odds and through the media. Boxers are not automatically boxing experts, some of them just know how to fight, but even if they were all experts, they were obviously not the majority, otherwise the odds and media would have been way more split or had Ryan as the favorite.
I recommend you double check the content you expose yourself to, because it might be twisting your perception of things.
Vast majority of non-black pro boxers rolled with Ryan. If they're not "experts" don't know who would be
They were wrong what you want man? it happens easy to talk shit in hindsight bit annoying how everybody jumps online to talk a lot after the fight and how wrong they were well done fella.
I thought Ryan Garcia was going to do better than Rolly because he's a better fighter imo with over 200 amateur fights it wasn't his night that's it. < to answer your question yesterday.
Just look at the poll on my thread about Rolly. VAST MAJORITY claimed that Ryan was going to not only outdo Rolly, but beat Tank.
Hell, the only reason the fight got any real hype was people hanging their hat on Garcia to beat Tank.
That's not s representative sample. Betting odds, media & experts opinions is a better sample and the majority were rolling with Tank.
The point is valid that people REALLY need to stop falling for the 'eye test'. It keeps happening.
IT was clear and apparent that Tank was simply superior as a fighter.
I didn't really see many people anointing Ryan with the eye test thing. Tanks was the favorite after all, and while people acknowledged Ryan's attributes, most favored Tank based on his skills and experience. Ryan is just famous, nobody I saw was crowning him a p4p talent or anything like what we see with Jaron Boots Ennis.
And this right here is why we don't get the best fights Ryan took all Tanks bs stipulations makes the fight vs another top guy, he lost and now he's a hypejob.
Well said, let's stop making the boxing community so toxic.
Its the result I expected but its a shame though. If he really was elite he had the other qualities to be a massive star, much more so than Tank. Would have been good for the sport.
Garcia just isnt that good. Hes much larger than tank and he was much larger than Fortuna... hes only even beaten these B and C level guys from having a size advantage. with his frame he will eventually have to go to 147 and he will get wrecked there.
As for him vs Tank, we can see he just was levels below tank. He didnt know how to use his reach advantage and control distance, davis has much shorter reach but was getting in there and landing constantly and its not like he is super human level athletic like pacquaio who could jump in and out of distance, Ryan just gave up his advantages and LET HIM connect. If you want to see a skilled guy use his reach advantage look at Bivol vs Canelo and how he controlled distance.
Ryan came in over aggressive and got caught and then had to slow his output down to avoid getting caught again and that made him fight Tank's fight. Then got caught again and we see his body isnt much better than his chin.
All Ryan does is make ready made excuses......at some point he has to take responsibility.
I didn't hear him make any excuses after the fight. He gave Tank credit for the win.
I knew Ryan wasn't an elite fighter when he turned down his mandatory to fight with Haney. I don't see him getting any top level wins.
Honestly, he has a huge social media presence which he should use in his favor. We live in an era where people stream themselves on Twitch and make millions, he needs to open an account. I'd say try acting but then went and got all those tattoos.
Said it for months. Ryan had a shot if he stayed disciplined and kept the range in his favor.
Round 2 he got reckless and paid the price.
He will still be around but they will match him cautiously from now on.
