I've read a few times by people in the industry that illegal internet streams are damaging the sport. Personally would never view these in a sport I love so much. Fighters get a big cut and less money in the pot means less likelihood of the top fights being made as per news reports. Deontay Wilder sums it up best :
"Fighters risk their lives for other’s entertainment,” and that they deserve big pay-per-view numbers that equal big paydays. “Stop f*****g stealing pay-per-views,” is Wilder’s message to the fans.
Source: Deontay Wilder: “Stop Stealing The F*****g Pay-Per-Views!” - Boxing News 24/7 (https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-new...r-views/260558)
From another source
"Sports executive Stephen Espinoza says big fights aren’t getting made because of the PPV piracy from fans, who choose not to purchase pay-per-view fights and turn to illegal avenues to see the bouts for free."
This is one of those issues... A few perspectives nobody is right/wrong here. Depends how you see the situation. Ask yourself a couple of things to start: Who owns air traffic in the public domain? Your bandwidth, your body, the technologies needed are all affected by these transmissions, so why can't people grab them? Just food for thought.
Blue - What's the next boxing match that has been confirmed that you would put in that category?
Ryan Garcia v Tank Davies. Should be a good one :):boxing:
For me though no football match however entertaining or illustrious will ever beat a top quality boxing match at respective levels but ideally heavyweight . As noted have to give credit to Joshua. At least he got two fights over the line with Uysk.

Can imagine in this current PL Arsenal and Man City avoiding each other and complaining about the split each team should get respectively? Or Arteta and Pep trading words about who is afraid of who? Used to give boxing all of my attention but no need to. The best facing the best in other sports is entertaining too.

Agree there are some ppv that I wouldn't buy as they don't merit it . I for one listened to the Tyson Fury v Chisora fight on the radio as for me that certainly never merited a ppv .It's a crying shame how this fight gets made and the one as other users have alluded to and I was desperate for( Fury v Uysk) doesn't .
It's the point in principle. Without fans there would be no professional boxing. It's the thin edge of the wedge . If everyone started illegal streaming there would be far less money in the pot and fighters could start looking at other professions. I know from reading about it's happened to a degree already with athletes being turned away from boxing to sports like basketball for one as there's more money to be made especially with scholarships and the like.

The prices are ridiculous for 85% LESS quality of what you got on a PPV 20 years ago. If your going to give 85% less quality. DECREASE the price of the fights by 85%. Its only fair.
OH, just so you know. I HAVE NEVER WATCHED ANY PIRATE PPV .
You know why? Cause 85% suck so bad. I dont care to even watch it FOR FREE! Id rather read who won than waste my TIME.
Well we have other competitive sports to tune into so we will focus on that until they make truly competitive fights in boxing. The fights this week are sh-t! We will be tuning into PL,NBA,MLB. We have options!

Lolol. Does anyone think boxing would be “better” if we paid for all these sht PPV events?

this is the same crying when p2p first started, the whole entertainment industry was crying about it being the end of movies and music. Are illegal streams destroying the UFC? What's destroying boxing is that there are no crossover stars, and the stars we have are too scared to fight each other.
Sir , you knocked it right out of the park
Wtf isn’t the ufc in shambles ?
Why is it that they build their characters on free tv and then and only after the fan or casual know the fighter ( meaning he fights on free tv before ) they put him on some ppv ?
They’re still making a chit load of money but even that will run out for the greedy ps etc etc etc
Give me:
Fury - Usyk
Wilder - Joshua
Crawford - Spence
Bivol - Beterbiev
Canelo - Benavidez
And I will pay for every single of that fights.
For sure I will not get that, so s.hut the f.uck up and don`t you expect me to pay for garbage like Canelo - Ryder.
Agree. I like what Dana White is suggesting. Creating his own business model where fights get made which the fans want to see as often happens in the UFC. It's ultimately largely greed which is what is damaging the sport I feel.
The UFC, regardless of all the pay controversy, is an excellent example of what happens when a sport has a dominant body. Boxing never has and it has led to its downfall as a mainstream spectator sport.

So people streaming overpriced PPV cards that have no business being on PPV in the first place is destroying boxing?
All that tells me is the PPV system is an old and outdated model that should be thrown in the trash. PPV used to be reserved for major, significant bouts. Now they take garbage match ups and call them PPV to try to make a quick money grab, but your average fan doesn’t have the means to pay for all of those. No. Not me. I’m not falling for that bullsh#t. Especially when inflation is at like what, 8%???? And you want me to buy Benevitez vs Plant? Lmao. Benevitez vs Plant is a good match, but it’s wasn’t even for a belt!
Illegal streaming isn’t the issue here. Boxing just needs a major overhaul. Expensive, numerous, and insignificant PPV’s isn’t the answer.
Create a major governing body that oversees the entire sport. Create a union for boxers. Then, and only then, will the sport start to become better.
Plant vs Benavidez for $75 is destroying boxing
garcia vs davis for $85 is destroying boxing
so called superstars fighting bullshit mandatories once or twice a year is destroying boxing
promoters protecting their fighters is destroying boxing
5 belts(WBA has 2) and too many goddamn promoters is what's destroy9ng boxing.
Stop putting mfers on ppv that have accomplished NOTHING!!!. We just saw benavidez vs plant on ppv for $75 and this fight 20 years ago is a BAD headliner at best. Truthfully, Junior Jones vs Kennedy Mckinney on the undercard of Hamed vs Kevin Kelly was probably a more intriguing fight than Benavidez vs Plant. Everything is on ppv, no one is building their name through free tv and all of the up an dcoming fighters are either fighting on ppv or apps. Greed is destroying boxing, not someone stealing fights.
