How was Marciano able to punch so hard with mediocre speed and short arms?

It looks to me that he had excellent good rotation. But everybody at his level rotates well, among punchers at least. Marcianos power is one of those mystique things to me. What do you guys think he did to conjure it up? His hands are small but thick. Could it be that he had fairly high bone density and thus some mass advantage? Ali did say after all that Marciano tapping his shoulder hurt, so that must mean that he was heavy boned since there's no real velocity to taps.

Guessing by having solid fundamentals both defensively and offensively. He had deceptive defensive skills despite that he is made out to be this brawler with no regard to his safety and had good timing coupled with outstanding power. Quite different fighters but whenever I see Oleksandr Usyk he doesn't really strike me as someone who has outstanding power nor hand speed but somehow toyed with a 6'6 athletic giant like Anthony Joshua who has a deep amateur pedigree being a golden Olympian and had multiple good wins in his professional career such as Klitschko, Whyte, Povetkin, Ruiz and Pulev.
