Great post, I doubt the first sentence. How many examples about uk boxing beating american Urban boxing? I didn't mean to single out the UK specifically, I'm counting it along with Europe. I'm also not keeping a tally and don't plan to do research, but from UK specifically Khan and Calzaghe come to mind and Europe in general we have GGG Lomachenko, Kovalev, etc. with a good track record vs the urban American style.

Latinos and Asians have ruled small divisions since ever, that is not some new thing. In Europe, the most of grown men are not small enough to compete in small divisions. I mean I had about 150 lbs when I was 13 years old.

Nobody thought Wood was a 'great champion' - he's generally regarded as a massive overachiever (as was Josh Warrington for that matter) - and most people I've spoken to pre-fight were shaking their heads at Davidson's decision to put him in with a proven dangerman like Mauricio. British fans will tend to support their local guys loudly and vociferously regardless of whether they think they're elite or not... in fact we tend to be very fond of overachievers and particularly love an underdog story..:dunno: It's also worth bearing in mind that Mexico has something like double the population of the UK and has 3 or 4 times as many professional boxers, particularly concentrated in the lower weighclasses due to the smaller average stature of Mexicans - particularly poorer Mexicans - whereas the UK tends to have greater strength in the median and higher weighclasses. For example Chávez JR vs Matt Vanda. Chávez Sr was fighting against mexican fans because they were landing tomates to his son. I remember Ceja vs a Guy from Venezuela and people was dissapointed with the result, and supporting the Guy from Venezuela. With Barbie Juárez the same, a Lot of robberies and fans was mad and destroying Juárez in the media. But most of the title fights are out of México because the business is very poor here.
