I've been with DAZN since they started, on annual sub. Paid $120 last year (I think). Just got an email saying it will now cost:
1. $25/month for no contract
2. $20/month for 12 month contract
3. "Super Saver" of $225 per year (wow, super save a whole $15 from option #2)
Yes, it froze up a lot. Yes, they switched "good" fights to PPV model. Yes, they had a lot of bully fights and nobodies.
But they also showed fights in different countries and kept it active with fights almost weekly (unlike showtime, which isn't even monthly). Plus, I could watch fights two hours after they started and fast forward through all the boring parts, breaks between fights, and even breaks between rounds.
Maybe they don't know everything else costs me double these days. Maybe they don't realize I'm a boxing fan, and their MMA and soccer isn't worth anything to me.
I've supported them up to now, but there's no way I'm paying any of those plans. It was a great deal for $120 per year, but it's not worth $225, not to me anyway.
When I start earning double, maybe I'll reconsider.
I mean, that would've been nice. Some kind of deal like "Hey, thanks for helping us make this thing work. Here's a standing discount for as long as you stay subscribed."
Exactly correct sir! That said, they have to find a way to still try and burn their supporters!:boxing:
you cannot raise subscriptions Prices and still turn around and ask for more money for PPV Events like WTF are we doing right now?
I love boxing but not that much I doin't care if it was PBC, Top Rank, GBP, Don King Promotions whoever TF, I don't love boxing that much to spend that type of money on a APP that I would only open for MAYBE Canelo fights I guess?
You charging more than Disney+ and Netflix combined and at least those are 2 APPS than not just me but the entire family uses Daily, with a DAZN subscription I was the only one in the household using it and it costed the most so it just made no sense Financially to keep paying for something that I was only opening when Canelo fought
I'll be canceling my subscription before it renews in early June. Was holding out for a bit because I hoped there'd be enough backlash from fans for them to decide to back off of the massive price increase a bit, but that doesn't seem to have happened. But to jump from $99/year to $225 in one increase is such a slap in the face when you consider the addition of PPV and the really terrible last few months of content. Guess we should've known that first year or so of DAZN was too good to last.
Yeah, it was only $15 but still... Felt like they were spitting in my face. Emailed them all mad demanding money back for that month and they refunded my subscription lol
LMAO!
Charging $15 for THAT? Wasn't that the fight where he Tagoe ran all night? I stayed up to watch that and man...that was hard to watch. Never mind people that paid PPV for that.
Wow! Did they really?
I seriously hope DAZN doesn't go and decide to make Taylor-Serrano 2 a PPV fight (with me living in Puerto Rico).n
When I got that email people are referring to about DAZN upping their subscription price I was worried but thankfully my contract doesn't expire until November so thankfully I was able to delay that new price for a bit.

Yeah, DAZN has completely crushed their initial value proposition. If original supporters could be grandfathered in at original prices I would've kept my subscription, but adding PPVs and consistently raising the monthly prices is a disservice to their clients. Their monthly subscription should not be that high. I can easily re-sub to showtime for a fight or two for $12 and feel like I'm getting my money's worth, but I can't justify paying a month for DAZN for any of their fights.
They lost my sub forever after making Ryan Garcia vs Emmanuel Tagoe a PPV in Canada only. Not that I actually even wanted to see the fight but that is some unforgivable ****.

It was $5.99 monthly USD plus some taxes, but I’m pissed bc I feel like they should’ve kept grandfathered subscribers at that price…not this ish. Especially after admitting that they now need the revenue from the PPV Model. :boxing:

It was obvious DAZN was fuking up when they were overspending out the gate at the same time that HBO, with 30 years in the game were quitting boxing, a decision made because it wasnt bringing in the same money it used to.
Theres promoters and managers still doing it too. THey just paid Crawford 10 million or whatever to fight another european cabbage farmer, nobody wants to see that, they tried to make it PPV and it did what 30k buys, boxing as a sport is hemorrhaging money and its ruining the sport as well. Every time you pay crawford or GGG to fight a steve rolls it gives them less incentive to fight anyone good. Why would crawford fight spence for 20 million if he can fight two euro bums for the same? now he is going to demand 100 million to fight spence and that money doesnt exist, they cant make that much and they cant front that much up front. So the fight never happens.
excellent point and well said. Totally agree on GGG too. You cant pay a boxer all that money and let him fight bums. He has to fight the best
I also will not be renewing when my annual subscription is up next month. For me, there were 2 reasons:
1. Going to PPV after taking FIERCE positions against it.
2. only allowing ONE DEVICE in your home to show the PPV content. So at the Canelo-GGG fight party at my house, my choice was to cram 45 people into a theater room that seats 12, or have everyone downstairs in the living room and not use the theater. Absolutely Ridiculous
Yea,boxing as whole right now is a clusterfuch in a hole I can't see it digging itself out of. Atleast not until PBC or DAZN can land a significant investment from one of the major streaming services like Prime or P+ but that appears to be a pipe dream now.
Good ole Bob/TR, with ESPN's backing, appears to be the only promoter operating a sustainable outfit right now without having to pick our pockets.
Top Rank since moving to ESPN has squander a great opportunity. ESPN doesn’t care that much about boxing…. Softball, college basketball and even heisman trophy awards trump over it in programming. We have to wait for those events to end to enjoy boxing? They show us some good fights like Lopez-Loma, Valdez-Berchelt, Taylor-Ramirez but I felt those fights were made because ESPN forced Arum’s hand and he had to make those fights.
Top Rank can’t even make Haney-Lomachenko, ESPN don’t want to pick up the tab. Arum needs to start spending all that $$$ he robbed fighters of.
Its lame and theyre overpaying the top guys but the undercard fighters still arent making chit like usual. I wonder how many undercard level guys have given up on boxing and moved on.
A ton of unification fights have fell through.
Bivol-Beterbiev is basically never happening until beterbiev is atleast 40.
Crawford-Spence is never happening
Usyk-Fury is in jeopardy while they argue over purse split
It ain't like it used to be. I guess that's like a lot of things, but it's really is a mess altogether. I'll pay a few bucks to stay up with the annual fighters I enjoy watching, as well as prospects. But for even $25 per month, I'd rather spend it elsewhere.
600 posts? **** off
Usually, when I post, it's more than you just provided. Are all of your 23k posts, that you are so proud of, just you insulting strangers for no real reason?
Do you have anything of value to offer to the conversation or not?

I’m discontinuing as well. Boxing is the only sport I watch so it’s going to be hard. But right now, they have an average roster. I can just purchase the ppv if it’s truly a big fight. Otherwise, unless they decide they want to put on more boxing…I’m satisfied with ESPN+, showtime…
How does DAZN and PBC burn through $1.7 billion dollars leaving us with a product more divided and expensive than ever before??
Between DAZN's subscription/ppv's now and PBC's increasing number of ppv's,were essentially "forced" now to pay $700-$800 a yr to watch our beloved sport, wtf?! Think it's time to join Errol Spence and just give everyone one the middle finger by getting a jailbroken Firestick.
