Where would you place him on the ATG list ?
Is he an ATG ?
No one seems to GAF about him :(
I made a GGG dedication thread and it didn't go over well, I expect the same for this thread :lol1:
The Canelo "loss" in the second fight really derailed his momentum and he became almost forgotten while Canelo went on a tear and collected all those belts.
The third fight looked like they had a gentleman's agreement not to KO each other and collect an easy payday. It gives GGG some extra longevity and he can milk some more paydays too.
I'm still a huge fan but when he got rid of Abel Sanchez I knew he was only motivated by money from that point onwards.
Pouty pusses weep about Nelo fighting Biv
Imagine the tsunami of tears if he fought the scrubs PRIME GGG fought :crying:................
People tend to deflect when GGG's slew of nobodies are mentioned.
I just went over his resume. He only won 1 of his 4 belts off an actual champion. (Lemiuex) The others were vacant or upgraded regular belts. In his whole career he only beat 2 champions , Lemiuex and Murata. Overrated can crusher, although I think he did beat Canelo.
Canelo brought into the hype the 1st and fought negative like Jacobs so I gave the 1st fight to the GGGimmick, but Canelo dogwalked him in the 2nd fight. There's no need to even talk about the 3rd fight
At least he didn't have a bunch of useless rematches like Hopkins did. His title defense reign should have an asterisk next to it for the amount of guys he fought more than once.
not going to argue that one, his defenses were shit but were they hopkisn level lets fight echols for the 3rd time level of shit... well that is another debate
Ishida

Did I leave any BUM out :lol1:
lol he took a lot of useless fights his entire career. most of his defenses were against sergio leftovers

He is tied for all-time middleweight title defenses. That says a lot. In addition he was thoroughly avoided in his prime. Nevertheless he was robbed in at least one of the Canelo fights. The problem with him is that after the Canelo rematch he took a lot of useless fights when he signed up with dazn.

ATG list? who is running their ATG list into 4 digits? how could they place GGG if they dont have the first few thousand fighters ahead of him?
Broner would be at least 4 spots above him
I will be gracious enough to acknowledge, that yes? Mike Tyson's corner stopped the fight vs Mcbride 'After being knocked down'.
Still Mike Tyson fought hard and viciously in that fight. I don't believe that it correct that his comments after that fight, can be used against him and twisted 'To make it seem as if he was a lesser fighter'.
The facts still remain, that it took heavy sustained bombardment and extreme effort for his opponents to beat him 'Even in the later stages of his career' or whether he was in the best of condition or not.
And I personally don't think it is bad loss, in all of his fights there was always flashes of Iron Mike Tyson 'Nobody can deny that'.
I am done with this thread. As I think I have proven, everything that I set out to prove.
I know what he said. I am just giving you or anybody else reading this thread more context.
Nobody has twisted anything. This is boxing forum, people discuss boxing 'That is what I am doing'.
I have already made it extremely clear, and proven that Mike Tyson won his most defining fights. That was my ultimately my aim in this thread.
Everything else being discussed is a bonus.
Mike Tyson has never been stopped on his stool 'VS Holyfeid he was stopped on his feet, and in all of his other loses he was stopped inside the ring'.
Mike Tyson has never sat on his stool, then decided to not come out to fight 'You know this, if you have watched his fights'.
You cannot show me the footage of this behavior, can you? No.
So you have made a mistake on this thread.
You have to judge the man as fighter, by his actions. Mike Tyson was a warrior.
You are not really proving or disproving anything with your posts. You are focusing on comment, made by a retired boxer 'A comment he most likely made decades after fighting' It happens, fighters near the end of their careers can lose motivation.
If you understood the statement that Mike Tyson made, then you would not be trying to twist it. Because that is what you are doing, you are trying to twist what a retired boxer said 'And exaggerating it, and make out that he was a lesser fighter'.
The facts are, it took a beating, heavy sustained bombardment to beat Mike Tyson 'Every single time, even in the latter part of his career'. That is all am saying, the man was warrior and fought until there was no more'.
Is there some derangement going on here?
You seem hot under the collar with these 500 word post responses.
Mike Tyson quit on his stool vs Kevin McBride. He never came out for the 7th. When asked about it right then, he said what i said he said.
Its cool if you like Tyson. I did too as a fighter. But I didnt make a mistake here and you need to cool down. Just chill; itll be alright.
His prime years were spent fighting guys no one ever heard of.
Had he kept his promise, he would have more L's.
An ''incredible'' AMATEUR career :lol1:
Who chases that kind of dream :dunno:
I'm just saying, he's probably on the fringes of being called an ATG. :lol1:
Well we know considering the source its coming from a bad place.
Probably......
So.....which is it :lol1: ?!?!?!
Are you looking forward to Pac's next exhibition match ?
May is having one and it's supposed to be special
(another 10 digit pay day :boxing: )
Even in retirement, May owns you
Nelo tried to be too fancy in there (he was sexy along the ropes, though)
Reminded me of the 1st fight between Cotto and Margarito
Cotto was doing beautifully until he literally ran out of gas (he didn't need to be so fancy).
I was saying to myself, as I was watching Nelo keep his distance...GGG is going to eventually catch Nelo :(
Yelling at the screen for Nelo to stand his ground
To me, that was not Nelo's best...it might have been GGG's best.
GGG daring Nelo to stand and fight in the rematch was the best thing for Nelo.
GGG daring Nelo to stand and fight in the rematch was the best thing for Nelo.
You hit it right out of the park
And you saw how comfortable Canelo was with GGG wanting to fight
He beat him soundly in that second instalment which made me scream that we didn’t , absolutely , need that third instalment
Imo , that made Canelo look horrible in the eyesight of the hardcore because he didn’t need to go that route
Same way he didn’t need to go and test Bivol
I do give you credit though for being a huge fan but not an ignorant fan by stating like many nuthuggers were that he would kill Beterbiev and then go on to heavyweight and blah blah blah , you know the rest
Wtf is going on here , am I tripping
Two for two
You sick ? Something going on in your life wtf ?
Is this you lol
Great fughin post
I actually agree with you
Canelo DiD show way to much respect ( just like in the Kovi fight , he should of had him gone by the fifth as I intentionally predicted the minute the fight was made )
That shows though that Canelo also is becoming this defensive first guy until he realizes it’s in the bag which is a terrible look for him
I like cinnamon bun , I really do but he has gone down that safety road way to many times for me
:beerchug:

I applaud the bold :fing02:
Just know, I never ''attack'' a fan of a guy unless I'm ''attacked''
I may ''attack'' what a fan claims (to be expected if a person if a true fight fan)
That 1st fight was......strange
Nelo gave GGG way too much respect (while flaunting some high level ring generalship)
GGG was dictating the pace but was just headhunting
(I would not have been disappointed it it were a draw)
Clearly I'm not a GGG fan and I am a Nelo fan
I can still call it like I saw it
GGG's right hand not really being a factor
His jab was a legit fcking weapon, though.
Nelo wasn't trying to take control of the fight, which, IMHO, made it look as if he didn't want to win ?
It was strange

Sheesh......if a guy's entire career/legacy is contained in one fight, that's a sad legacy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqkvwTtoOYM
Yeah I know, highlight clips are not how fights are judged (I haven't watched it)
I'm sure these clips are sexy AF when a guy's favorite fighter looks good in them :boxing: !!!!!

I used to love GGG and yes he was avoided BUT he did spend 95% of his pro career fighting uber drivers.
he also got a gift against Deryevchenko because of that robbery vs Canelo in fight 1
what frustrates me is aside from lack of good wins as a pro he also never dared to be great and only fought at 160 even tho he and Abel said anyone from 154-168 can get the work
