No good fights to be made. It's crazy to me how people are falling for the fake hype some fighters are getting. Besides spence and Crawford, there's really no real killers in boxing. Tank Davis vs Stevenson is probably the only other fight I want to see. Those are the only 4 fighters who really do stand above the rest. Please do not mention devin Haney.
The heavy weight division is nothing but bums. No good fights are being made. Anything to be excited for? Seriously.
I mean where's all the Puerto Rican fighters at? What about all the Mexican killers. Where are they at? there's very few fighters who stand above the rest. Hell even though I like tank, he was getting whooped every minute of every round by Rolly. If tank ever fights someone with a granite chin it will be a replay of Canelo VS Bivol. Canelo thought the KO would come but it never did and he lost.
Please do not mention vergil Ortiz, he'd get whooped by Ennis, who himself isn't as good as the hype he's getting. And please don't mention Ryan Garcia for the love of God. He's Amir Khan 2.0.
Am I the only one who currently thinks boxing is in a bad state? It's so boring for me right now.
I started in the early 70s and was excited to watch the Rumble in the Jungle at 10 with my dad.
Lived through the golden era of the 70s and the 80s, while buying all the boxing magazines and books I could get my hands on. At the same time, I started collecting boxing footage.
I'm still here in spite of the mounting crap. Still reading, still watching, still collecting footage. And playing the Pick Em League at almost 60 with friends who, in some cases, could be my sons or, at the very least, little brothers.
You have to savor the essence of boxing, man. Whatever the era, warts and all. Deliver yourself from nostalgia (I suffer from that, too, mind you) and just enjoy the fights.
Its definitely boring right now.
But it's plenty of great fights to make. The fighters just don't wanna fight tough fights
Crawford vs Spence undisputed
Fury vs Usyk undisputed
Bivol vs Beterbiev undisputed
Haney vs Tank undisputed
Canelo vs Benavidez undisputed
Fulton vs Inoue 122
Charlo vs Andrade catchweight between 160 and 168
Wilder vs Joshua
Prograis vs Teofimo
Shakur vs Lomachenko
I could go on and on
Alot of Unification fights to be made which is actually very good for boxing but what isn't is CW. Don't care to see that in the sport.
Crawford-Spence has already lost some shine
Fury-Usyk would be an ugly looking fight
Bivol-Beterbiev is where it's at
Those are some solid matchups you mentioned..but in reality out of those 10 fights, we'll probably only get 2 of them
The problem with the sport is that Fighters are getting paid too much to fight Cherry picks. Cherry picks should get you know more than 300 400k and fighting a top guy should get you a million plus. Until the economics of that change a lot of guys just ain't got to fight the best. That's the problem in the sport.
This is basically it. If a fighter can get paid MILLIONS for fighting 2 cherry picks a year while being celebrated for it by their dikriding dumbazz fanbase, why the F*K would they want to fight the best and risk losing?
I think OP’s main point is that there’s nothing significant going on with the ‘big’ names. All the best fights that should happen aren’t happening. For fvkk’s sake we never even got Loma vs Mikey…
i agree there’s some exciting fights happening.
Mauricio Lara vs Leigh Wood is going to be madness.
but god damn it’s absolutely absurd the amount of fights that aren’t happening….

Maybe you and others that are little bit bored with boxing would enjoy this site's Pick Em league. For sure helped me getting interested even in "less interesting" fights!

Been a boxing fan for over 20 years & the sport is at it's weakest I recall. Alot of "p4p" fighters wouldn't even break top 20, 10 years ago based on how little they fight or do. There is impressive talent out there with most failing to have impressive careers.
Spence is overrated in skills, Crawford is pure talent but has underwhelming competition based on his status. Media & fans like to act like they're the new Leonard & Hearns both their biggest wins is against Porter. Seen many times refer to the Lightweight division as the modern 4 kings..alot of them are still developing and haven't archived close to the same greatness.
The fact that Tank-Garcia is one of the biggest fights to be made says alot when neither have had a truly note worthy win, neither a true champs, neither a p4p & neither are even the best in their own division(s). I guess boxing is one gigantic popularity contest.
The fact that Fury-Usyk isn't even the biggest fight at HW & they're both undefeated champs. Fans got more excited about the idea of Fury-Joyce..or Fury-AJ..or even Wilder-AJ.
The fact that Canelo-GGG III farce was the "biggest" fight of the year is telling.
Boxing has become obsessed with numbers..whether that be how many titles you can collect, how many divisions you can pick, how much money you're making, how many PPV sales you have..how many followers do you have.
Networks & promoters telling us who are "stars" & who is not. Even fighters believe in their own hype. Fact is Canelo & AJ may be the ONLY "PPV stars" in boxing & both their marketabilities would have been hurt with recent loses and performances.
Crawford-Spence may also be one of the biggest fights to be made in the sport & I doubt even that fight does good PPV numbers.
Every fighter thinks they're stars, greater than what they are & PPV worthy. I feel the only thing that is PPV worthy these days aren't really any individual fighters but more a particular fight itself. Even the biggest names need a good dance partner..and there aren't many willing or good dance partners to go around for deluded, entitled "fighters" to create the drama & excitement needed for any competitive sport.
A fighter fighting twice a year is considered a busy year and if you happen to be competing once every 3 months you get a pat on the back for such a gruelling schedule.
Boxing has hit an atrocious low with an era full of Mayweather-like greediness, exhibitions, socialmedia/Youtubers, best not fighting the best. Pathetic.
It feels 70% of the "sport" takes place through headlines, rumours, tweets, interviews, press conferences & gossip..while the other 30% is taken inside the ring. Boxing is not only a business, it's not only a bad soap opera now but become one big reality show too!
Boxing has taken a big nose dive in recent years and putting talent & prospects aside, there isn't many, if any mega fight to be made.
If you like watching bums vs bums, that's your prerogative. I like watching the best vs best. What happened to the Oscar de la Hoyas, Miguel cottos, Shane mosleys, Diego Corrales, Bernard Hopkins of the world. This is the weakest boxing has ever looked to me, EVER.
The fact you'd call anything but the superstars bums tells me all I need to know.
It's real simple: casual fan wants pretty looking records (regardless if it was the result of careful matchmaking and promotional backing), fighters unwilling to risk loss against tough fighters unless they are overpaid because they don't want to risk that pretty record that the casual loves so much, casual fan complains no big fights. Casual fan who loves the pretty records and also the big fights claim boxing is dying and UFC (where most of the fighters catch losses) is taking over.
Welcome to the post Mayweather/Social Media era of Boxing. Fighters aren't willing to risk a loss by fighting the best, and these youtubers are getting more hype from the general public than actual top fighters.

You’re right, everything is fucked right now.
I would be interested in watching Bivol vs Beiterbiev and the Canelo vs Bivol rematch but that’s it really.
The culture of swerving all decent opponents until you are forced to fight them is pure cancer for the sport. Its fucking over unless someone forces a UFC style system where the best are forced to fight the best.
The problem with the sport is that Fighters are getting paid too much to fight Cherry picks. Cherry picks should get you know more than 300 400k and fighting a top guy should get you a million plus. I mean just look at the front page. Wilder, the guy who throws windmills, is fighting Andy Ruiz. Who really weighs like 180 without all the fat on him.
Then you have another thread saying spence is scared and ducking Ronaldo Romero.
Then you have another thread saying Bivol, the best 175lber, is ready to go down to 168 to fight the 5'8" Canelo, who really should be fighting at 160 max.
These are the headlines in boxing right now. It's such a joke.
What happened to the Mike tyson, I'll F you til you love me Maggot.
What happened to the Mayweather 24/7s getting us hyped for the fights.
What happened to the Pacquiaos moving up in weight back to back knocking mofos out.
What happened to the paul Williams calling everyone out and campaigning at 147-160 at the same time.
What happened to the Margaritos loading their gloves with bricks to get the job done.
What happened to the Tyson Furys jumping in the ring "there's only oneeeee tysoooon fuuury"
What happened to the prince Naseem entrances.
Hell, at this point im starting to miss Adrien Broner.
Boxing is so boring. Just had to say my piece. Call me when shlt gets exciting again.
"Loading their gloves with bricks to get the job done". Lmao
Man I ain’t logged onto this site or posted in years, but did for this post. Couldn’t agree more. Huge fan since the early 90s. My eyes first got into it watching guys like Mike, pea and roy. Feel blessed to have watched their careers along with the names you mentioned and others.
I’m not sure what im watching lately. Between social media fights, fights not happening, best not fighting the best, the best not being all that good vs what I’ve seen previously this sports spiraling.
really seems like this era is trying to follow the mayweather blueprint - make bank and minimize risk. Nobody wants to lose the 0. The fighters in general aren’t as hungry as previous generations.
toss in other factors like promoters getting worse, network nonsense it’s easily at its lowest point in the last 30 years.

AS long as you have the promoter battles going on that robs fighters of the ability to fight the best of the best and more often, this is what you're going to get.
I'm glad to see dudes like Devin Haney & Shakur Stevenson & Vergil Ortiz & Boots Ennis who want to fight everybody, but sadly, their promoters will keep them relatively inactive and fighting "economically safe" fights.
Hopefully, Tank Davis leaving Mayweather will allow him to be more independent and fight who he wants when he wants the way Canelo does.
I watch exciting fights all the time. They may not always be the big names, the ones hyped by promotions or even the ones with pretty unblemished records....but there are plenty of great fights being made.
To each their own.
