I remember the hour the fight was announced. The forum went insane and I was out with friends celebrating in a bar chit was crazy.
I recall there was little to no promo material and no really one press conference apart from when they officially announced it.
The world had been waiting years for that fight so I guess it sold itself. Where there any other big fights (apart from the obvious) where the same occurred?
Agree with Tito - DLH. The rest isn't relevant to the thread question.
No but I figured I'd throw it in there so you can know what a real superfight is
Trinidad/De la Hoya with both guys in their prime and the actual fight lived up to the hype. It sold itself. Too bad we couldn't get your boy to stop acting scared

Okay. Now answer the question.

i had to watch it but i didnt have any real excitement for it is the best way i can explain it i think, i think that years ago drama between the two of them was a real low point in boxing, still to this day both camps blame each other and it crops up now and then, best left alone at this stage i would say
Agree on all points.

Tyson, Delahoya, Holyfield, Chavez, Trinidad, Moseley, Morales, Barrera. All fighters who actually fought in the ring and took chances. They gave it there all. Unlike MOST of today’s millennial fighters. Bunch of pooseys.
Actual fight was an unmemorable dud though.
Floyd's per round clinching was out numbering landed punches 25-1
Whatever you say about Mayweather as you obsess over him with your hatred all these years, just remember, he has a much better life than you will ever have, worked harder than you, is looked up to by more people than you, has helped more people than you’ll ever help, and was way better at his job than you’ll ever be at your job as a McDonald’s assistant manager.
A bunch of Ali fights. Ali vs Foreman, Frazier I and III sold $60m, $60m and $45m in PPV and closed circuit revenue. Adjusted for inflation today the $60m is $362m revenue.
It doesn’t matter what you think about the price of the PPV in the 70s. Generating $60m in PPV and closed circuit in the 70s was huge. And worldwide it sold $100m total.
Just imagine if Terence Crawford today, could generate even $60 million dollars? In his best PPV fight he sold what, 150k at $70 vs Khan? That’s about $10m. That’s in the 2010s. So imagine Ali’s drawing power in the 1970s to generate $60m (+gate revenue). His drawing power was otherworldly.
A lot of Mike Tyson and DLH fights too. Namely DLH - Trinidad was huge. Tyson - Holyfield, Tyson - Lewis
But you bought it anyway.

when floyd pac was announced i was like, yawn, this is going to be pretty hopeless being so many years late
if it happened when it should have happened then epic i would say
But you bought it anyway.
I was exaggerating for effect, but the attendance viewpoint has legit merit. Selling small numbers to business men with big pockets who want to say they were there, is not the appeal of selling 94,000 tickets, mostly to normal fans. I'd be embarrassed by that attendance if I was TBE or Pacman. Nash out
I’m sure Pac and Floyd were embarrassed all the way to the bank. It’s called prize fighting for a reason.
So when you posted that you “believe the revenue generated was similar”, you were full of shyte?

Maybe it generated a lot less, but ultimately, Mayweather vs Pac had a very low attendance and only made so much because of overselling to rich dude's with more money than sense. If it could have filled 94,000 seats, it would have, but it couldn't. Maybe 30,000 at a push. Nash out
