I believe that it was all a negotiation ploy by Team Crawford in order to gain some type of leverage against Al Haymon at the bargaining table but it backfired. As per usual Al Haymon didn't so much as flinch.

He could have told Crawford, "all we made on the fight was $5 million" and what could Crawford do about it?
