So in my years as a boxing fan, I’ve heard a lot of really out there arguments from some die hard fanboys of certain fighters. With all respect to those who lace ‘‘em up and risk their health for our entertainment, what are the most outlandish fanboy arguments you’ve heard on why their fighter could beat somebody / anybody or why their guy was the greatest?
I’m starting us off with my own which I mentioned elsewhere today:
I’ve heard Floyd fans claim he would have destroyed Tommy Hearns had they met prime for prime, because he destroyed Diego Corrales and he was “the bigger man”. This feeds into the whole conversation that Floyd supposedly never faced anyone with a reach advantage.
But I don’t want to pick on Floyd — there are many more dumb arguments claiming others are the “best ever”, whether that be Lomachenko, Wilder, Fury, you name it.
Have at it, but please try to respect those who lace ‘‘em up. Bonus points if you can bring the funny.
I once saw written in YouTube comments that Tyson Fury was "one of the most disciplined fighters of all time".
Also, BodyBagz' claim that the standard of boxing is so much higher now that it was a legitimate career strategy for Floyd Mayweather to take six months to a year to prepare for the likes of Robert Guerrero and Victor Ortiz.
Don't be so passive, bro

''Punch'' in any guys name from that era and you will see a goofball in the ring, if not 2.
Back in 2012 and the first months of 2013
Mofo's swore up and down that Matthysse would obliterate Danny Garcia
Pac fans swore up and down that Donaire would obliterate Rigondeaux
Triangle theories. Mosely got his ass kicked by Forrest twice, Mayorga kicked Forrest's ass twice, and Mosely kicked Mayorga's ass twice. So the idea that because fighter A beat fighter B and fighter B beat fighter C so fighter A would beat fighter C so they shouldn't fight is stupid.
Lara would have beat prime GGG, rigo would outbox manny pacquiao. (that one isn’t a popular belief but i saw a youtube comment once and it blows my mind every time i think about it), lemieux would have KOd canelo (hahahha),
Ggg was gonna kill Canelo.
Lemuix that fought GGG was gonna beat Canelo.
Fury would never fight Whyte.
Too many to name....
Man i forgot about the lemuiex one. Truly some dumb shit
Canelo "ducked" Charlo, Andrade and Benavidez to fight GGG.
Bivol and Beterbiev get a pass for not fighting each other because of mean ole Bob Arum.
Floyd Gayeather didn't duck prime Pacquiao and likes women.

"Fighters have evolved since the mean weight for a heavyweight increased. "
1. "Evolution" takes time and solid proof of beneficial changes.
2. Film says otherwise and is easy to view these days! (no excuse).
Even if one maintains fighters are better today (I disagree, but this is not such a silly argument) to say they "evolved" us a really stupid thing to say.
